I wonder if these cuts were even necessary. Some of those people who were cut were overwhelmed with work.
What was the management thinking, who will do all the work of the people who were let go?

Stupid company with stupid employees.
I think the "advertised" jobs are phony, to appear to be hiring and to avoid negative layoff press. Think about it. Very few "find a job" in the 60 days, move around internally and I don't ever remember meeting a new hire. Recent layoff and previous never hit the press. Smoke and mirrors...all of it.
Layoffs are a mix of overall plan, politics, etc. E, all of the above. Do what is best for you, they will.
I was laid off in August 2022 supposedly as a reorg/cost saving measure. However, my exact job is being advertised for interviews, and at a slightly higher pay rate than what I was making after being an exemplary/rewarded/awarded employee there for 2 decades. So, the best I can figure is the layoffs were political in nature.
The layoffs were necessary as we have been bleeding money since the merger. Our leadership and teams do not know how to manage spend and budget
cost cutting measures will continue until the stock is consistently trading over $175 per share. TMO does not exist to give you a job. The exist to maximize shareholder value. Bo-m! D-mbazz!
