Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Nothing like being thrown away like yesterday's trash....

Worked for this company for over 15 years, busted my bu-t and gave 100% on everything I did only to be "rewarded" with horrible raises - even though I got great APRs, putting up with inept leadership at all levels, and working on a multi-year transformation project that is so horribly managed it's criminal, useless "required" training, etc. only to be thrown away like yesterday's trash. Surplussed.
Leadership is phucking clueless and has no vision, no innovative ideas...what is Stankey good for?

I swear if Stankey was standing in front of me now I'd slug that miserable POS!

"Perhaps it is time that every employee, regardless of tenure, accept the new reality and plan accordingly"

Spoken like someone in their 20's or 30's with no children. All my kids are grown, and I am nearing 50. No one wants to hire you when you are in your 50's. That might be okay for younger people, but no for those of us that are older. Employers just look at you like you are a pending long-term health issue waiting to happen.

There is a reason why younger employees are not tethered to an employer or even an industry…because they understand they are disposable and subject to reduction or job elimination at any point. If you’ve paid any attention to how all businesses operate now, it’s notable that they no longer want a workforce of long term employees. Those days are long gone. And younger workers don’t want to sign onto a job with the expectation to stay longer than five years … moving on to better opportunities, growth and more money. Perhaps it is time that every employee, regardless of tenure, accept the new reality and plan accordingly.

No money for employees or raises, but hire one of the causes of debt for 1 million a month and give the other 20 million bonus; someone is milking the cash cow to death. And needs to cut costs to squeeze the last drop.

Union seniority is the only safety for employees. Too bad there is no professional union. Debt is a business decision, but who gets cut is a buddy decision.

Maybe if you weren’t woke you wouldn’t get fired all the time.

Some orgs made it very personal, even lied about performance. To the OP, you are WAY BETTER OFF NOW. Take some time for yourself and then go work someplace with professionals.

I log in a couple times a day, send a few emails, forward on some nuggets of information and take naps in between. Sometimes I get a hummer from my wife.

Last time I checked 100% is maximum effort and anything beyond that is just made up phony numbers for bonuses and ratings.

Everyone wants to dismiss and dehumanize those involved in layoffs with “it’s only business”, “ It’s your attitude” etc.. Like it’s their fault and excuses the failures of leadership that continue victimize employees and their families without any consequences.

Wow. Reading your post makes me understand why you were let go

You are incorrect, this appears to be a dedicated employee who feels betrayed, undervalued and now stressed. It’s understandable that they want to vent and lash out. Needs of the business dictates layoffs but most of that is due to repeatedly poor decisions by leadership. Unfortunately lower rank and file are the victims while the perpetrators prosper.

Sorry to hear about your job loss and I feel your disgust because since SBC took over it’s been a dumpster fire. There is hope if you want to be reemployed by another org, just make sure you are marked employable on your exit.
