Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

3/21 - Powell meeting

Well, with the company wide townhall from Scott Powell just announced on 3/21 which is set up to address "transformation" I assume that date is all but a certainty for the next big layoff date.

@1ohi+1lrpR4JF, today was my last day and my manager told me that they will not be able to replace me with anyone in the US and instead have to use India resources. We had a sad laugh about how incompetent the India team is. I feel for the US-based team.

I think it’s next week for mortgage. Underwriting leader is having a town hall to discuss RTO, 2023 company goals, etc. Have a strong suspicion that mortgage operations employees getting the axe will find out Tuesday since the town hall is Wednesday

risk and many other groups put hiring on hold in q4 but it is now slowly ramping back up. they are being very strategic about it and not all reqs from last year that were open will remain open, but they are tickling in. Part of the problem is all the jobs unfroze now have to get back into a very long line to get assigned to a recruiter.

An email just went out today with a meeting invite for 3/16 where we are being told to "Celebrate our Realignment". Sounds like a tacky layoff notice. Just yesterday our executive called a meeting and said "there's nothing to worry about" (which has only made people worried).

Reading between the lines, I'm assuming that I'm safe (darn!) and that other's in my group will not be.

Does the fact that there are no risk or compliance jobs being posted now mean anything? Actually, there are very few full time jobs posted besides teller or jobs in India. Is this a sign that these groups will be laid off or is there a hiring freeze of sorts? My understanding is that they were having trouble keeping people.

I’m done with all the town halls. All from any OC member. They are lame attempts to gaslight and brainwash us and tell us we are “better together” and that we are appreciate and that we care about our customers. It’s insulting and condescending. Our OC seems to have zero empathy for anyone and either willfully blind or narcissistic enough to think about how they undermine morale with seemingly every decision. They care about their own wealth. They care about their own power. That is ALL they care about.

Great and even just good managers realize that people make things happen (for now until AI can do our jobs). If you don’t care for the people, they will not give you their best and may even actively work against you. That’s the opposite of what we need now. We could move past our regulatory issues and usher this dinosaur into the 21st century pretty quickly if we had people that cared about this company’s success and felt they were part of the team.

No one I know cares about the success of our company because no one feels our leaders care about them. We aren’t part of the team-we are employees and expenses. Our company could be great, but instead it is being run into the ground.

Note to OC: you get what you give.

If there aren't "massive" layoffs on 3/21, I'll ignore all future layoff scoops on this board.

Where have you been. People have been posting about "The Big One" for two years now. This one is no more real than those were. Gets everyone's juices going, all the people supposedly in the know post here and the day comes and goes. Many times there has been a targeted group that gets hit but not company wide. Mind games for fun.

My god, there has never been a big "lay off date". WF has quietly been laying US employees off at a rate of 1800 per month for the past 2.5 years. This is to keep Warren happy, and also because frickn HR doesn't have the ability to layoff anymore per month.

Yeah the doc was useless and redundant considering we had SP running around waving syringes. The fun part is that SP and the rest of the ivory tower klan knew the score all along, and pushed it anyway. The dead don't get paid severance either. Keep thinking they didn't consider it.

@1zzy+1lrpR4JF … calls I’ve been on have included corp. sec. HR, ent. Inv., etc. on data loss, etc. re displacements. Was told late last year that 9000 are to be laid off by summer. So yes, there are people who know due to the nature of their jobs and the possibility of proprietary and confidential WF information walking out the door with the displaced.

SP is a total POS. Honestly, he's even worse than the CEO. I'm not listening to S coming from his stupid mouth. I can get any relevant / important info here. He needs to keep boosting every 60 days. It's safe and highly effective per the CDC.

WF probably fully supports the 3/21 rumors, to give remote workers the false hope of layoffs and see how many emotionally crumble and quit on their own accord.

This is some sort of pyschological game against a loyal workforce of good people who simply don't deserve to be unwilling participants.

Consider this a rumor on top of a rumor.

People do know. Just because you stayed out of private emails doesn’t mean people don’t talk. They do. It doesn’t make it to the people impacted but it happens all around them. April. that’s the next big one.

For those claiming to have knowledge of the layoffs… I don’t buy it! They keep these sensitive topics highly confidential. I have actually helped with one as an assistant to a manager and was completely out of the loop as all emails were marked private as well as meeting invites. They were password protected and even as a delegate to calendar and email I couldn’t see anything. I even received the FedEx package to store and keep for my manager having no idea that it was a displacement package for one of my coworkers that sat outside my office. I found out the contents of that package when the coworker “announced” the displacement…

Don’t believe those people- there is no way they would know!!!

Set your expectations as low as Charlie's last town hall when he left 8 minutes for Q&A and spent almost all of the 8 minutes answering a soft-ball question about corporate sponsorships.

Scott is ready to talk about sponsorships for 30 minutes and the snacks at Hudson Yards for the remaining 30. If he has time left, he will also preview his summer plans of international travel in 5-star hotels.

Guys, I’ve posted 3-4 times SINCE LAST NOV saying March will be massive. Dir. here, have heard this from at least 5 execs on various calls. Low five figures. Have no idea about the SP town hall. He’s a mo--n.

Thursday is 3/23. I'll assume its such a large number that they will need a few days to call everyone. Yes interesting that Powell is running it. Charlie and Scott are awful. Of the three of them, I'll take a sip of my coffee and rather watch the Saul show.

I do not think I can be 'rallied' at this point. I have been too long, seen too much and been screwed by management. Charlie leaving would be most welcomed, but I'm thinking it may be more come to Jesus than anything. I won't change until India is gone from the company and US teams are valued.

I agree with OP. Sure seems like it’s designed to “rally the troops” to those who were not laid off, following a mass morning layoff, considering the Town Hall is scheduled for the afternoon.
To anyone not laid off on 3/21, they’ll look at us as if we owe them our lives and the Town Hall will reinforce that. Writing is very clearly in the wall if you ask me. But maybe I’m wrong.
