Before anybody thinks I'm saying everybody should return to the office, that's not it. For me, though, working from home means getting from bed to my laptop, trying to eat my meals while typing, responding, or doing whatever it is that simply can't wait and I have no idea why, being available to everybody at any time, during or after working hours, and having little to no human interaction. I'm done with it. If I had a wife and kids, who knows how I'd feel. But WFH is not for me. I overcompensate to the detriment of my own life. My point here is that not everybody who doesn't mind returning to office is an a-s-kisser or believes it is better for everybody. Some of us just have a personal preference.

I'm management and I don't do any work on nights, weekends, holidays or vacation.

You hit a hot button with me. I've heard the same thing. Management expects you to take calls from customers on the weekend, when a clearly established maintenance process has been established for this purpose. Management can tell me all they want to "check e-mail". How about "No way -you check e-mail!" I am not going to answer to customers who refuse to use the process established to escalate maintenance issues. If they are too d-mb to follow the escalation process and need a mommy to help them find their binky, they can wait until Monday.

These decisions are made 5 levels above you. You have no say in this matter. Trust me you’ll either be allowed to or not. Doesn’t matter what anybody thinks of it.
I get it. I personally like the hybrid schedule. It helps my office is only 5 miles away. If I had a long commute, I may have a different answer.
More power to you. I think we are a mobile workforce and a person should be able to work from where they are most comfortable. That is what it looks like to empower people. That is what real leadership looks like.
Get out of here with that garbage. I've been able to balance this job and my other job because I'm home and not in the office, surrounded by people who want to gossip and steal my lunch out of the fridge. Try christian mingle or something and maybe you can find someone and one day have a wife and kids. Maybe then you will appreciate the freedom of working from home.
Why? because your skills dont warrant to WFH? and just so someone's personal preference wants to go to work because of her personal issues, then we TOO shall put that as measurement of one's ability to do work? That thinking that RTO is "working" needs to die off.
The one who says go to wal-mart is clearly one of the lazy ones the company needs to purge itself of.
Then go work for Walmart and take that personal preference with you.
