Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

You are in charge of making a change

Companies evolve, change course, etc. We as individuals do the same. At some point an individual’s needs, lifestyle, beliefs, goals no longer mesh with the people we hangout with, best friends, wife, girlfriend, things we associate with, and things we do. When that happens we as individuals can make changes in our life to better align with the person we are. Given this freedom we have to make changes like this, why even fight what T wants to do? Do what is necessary for the short term and find a job with a company that meets your expectations and offers the work environment that fits you. Neither you or the company signed a contract where either party committed to offering the other anything for the lifetime of their career. I see both sides but at the same time why be miserable. We all know that Carrie’s over to your personal life and relationships. Why let T and its rules do that when you have full control over making a change. My comments probably do not apply to a person with 25+ years and still hanging on to let their pension grow but I do not think there are many of those left. For the rest there is nothing T offers you to warrant hanging on for years to come that you cannot get elsewhere.

Excellent advice from @srm+1lqajhM5.

Yep, I’m in my mid-40’s now and kind of at an inflection point. I joined after pension plans just ended, so no reason to stick around long term. Don’t really want to stick with what I’m doing now so working on making a shift to the next thing. I can say, I don’t want to work for another company. I don’t like people having control over me from a career perspective determining if I’m qualified to be in the club at the next level. It’s crazy how many people I know that work here and are leaders in things outside this company and consistently outperform, yet don’t get tapped to be a leader here. People that are looked up to, have incredible people skills, and a resume before coming here that makes you go wow, yet at ATT they are just low level office workers. It’s a shame. So many talented and highly qualified people, it’s just a waste.

Still cannot deny the fact that AT&T is a 145yrs old institution with draconian measures to stay afloat.
Cannot deny that "leadership" has tried to avoid being a communication company (something that AT&T has "some" expertise in) and tried to be a "Media company", an outstanding FAILURE, (120+ billion in debt). Change my mind. Go to the town hall meetings in Dallas, Listen to Stankey if he shows up. Bobble your head Up and Down when the camera is on you. He-l, bobble your head up and down the whole time. Might get you in to the safe club. No, just kidding. You all are at risk.
