NIC contract is not same as core contract. It’s a complete joke. We not NOT management. Core contract her 3 months to find a job. NIC contract gets 1 month. Core contract severance is based off years worked. NIC contract is 10 measley weeks if severance.

@2foh+1lrXbnS4- Uverse TRC employees are non-management. Their job titles are Surveillance Technicians. They are under the National Internet Contract, which pays 10 week’s severance max.
In fact, one of the impacted employees confirmed this already below.

I think this Uverse TRC group is considered management. Their layoff is based on the ever changing company policies. For the contracted union employees if one had 25 yrs service their severance would be based on those years and add up to way more than 10 weeks that is being offered to these employees. It’s in the signed contract

If there is to be a layoff or surplus for union members it is done per the contract and announced on the 15th day of last month in the quarter for the proceeding quarter’s surplus. There is a contractual process, article 7 in the SE. seniority is involved with bumping rights and preferences on any job vacancies. If those aren’t viable then the employee goes into a job bank or leaves payroll with severance based their years of service. There are some minor variations based on the contract one is under.

Upper management is full of clowns that think they can automate everything. Chat gpt probably writes their little positive scripts as they plan to do away with your jobs. All you have to do is go start your own company offering automation and sell it to them whether you can deliver or not.

With the return to work directive we needed to find some empty seats.

I was one of the 40 that got laid off 25+ years with the company now I have to start all over. Cr---y 10 week severance and 30 days to find a job. To stay with AT&T.

Uverse TRC. On the National Internet Contract. Best they get on this trash contract is 10 weeks severance. Group was created with the rollout of Uverse, which is a product the company still supports.
The shocking thing is how they expect automation to handle the majority of their work. This is a 24 x 7 NOC. Phones ring all day and night. Good luck with that.

They have to be management. Irving TX is SBC and they would have a larger window for a longer notice before a surplus.

These "techs". Was it a management position? I wonder what their contract looked like if they are union. In my region/district, we have 90 days, not 30 days, so I was curious .
