Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Who is responsible?

Husband can’t get the bank to release $500 left in a business account from when his partner died (he passed away about a year ago). The partner’s wife, the executor of the will, has attended meetings with Wells Fargo with him, more than once, and he still can’t get them to give him his money. Who can we contact?

Fill out a CFPB claim online. They will need documentation like a statement or signature card to prove ownership. All relevant details should be provided. The bank has 4 days to respond. Once you know WHY they won't release the funds you can proceed with legal action if you want.

Same thing happened to my sister-in-law at BofA when her father passed away. One day one of the Senior VP's happened to visit the BofA branch and overheard my sister-in-law's frustration. He stepped in, took care of the situation, and gave my sister-in-law his business card and direct line. Two days later the money was FedExed to my sister-in-law. She called and thanked the Senior VP his direct line.

There is no way this is all of the information as accounts held jointly or by a "business" with no listed individuals can be emptied and closed at will. I bet they were setup incorrectly or someone brought the partners death to the bank first and that triggered erroneous protections. If this account was incorrectly listed in the will, and depending on state law, it is far simpler to use a Small Estate Affidavit/Affidavit for Collection of Personal Property where applicable to collect small sums. This is assuming the death is being processed outside of Probate. Otherwise you are subject to your States probate laws even if the decent passed with a Will but without the aforementioned asset listed.

pretty simple, have the executor of the will withdrawal the money, they should have transaction authority, and get them to give it to the husband.

$500 isn't worth the time and headaches.

Call and ask for Charlie Scharf. Office of the president should be able to get this resolved for you ans pay you for your inconvenience!

File a complaint with the BBB. Also, there are a few different government agencies you can file a complaint with. Just use google to find them.

I call BS. All that for your husband's share of $500? Were they running a lemonade stand?

@ggo+ Not a wise idea. The lawyer probably will charge more than $500 to help getting back $500 :-)

Not the appropriate forum for this. You need to follow the legal process. Go to a lawyer for help with settling an estate.
