Rule of 55 allows you to draw from your 401K without penalty.

If you've been with AT&T long enough for 5/5/5 to be of benefit then you should have plenty in retirement unless you've made bad life decisions.

There has to be more layoffs to make room for MASTEC who will just signed a big ole fat contract with AT&T to perform mobility builds and maintenance.

The problem with 5/5/5 is that if you're only 55-60 years old, you really don't benefit by the offer because you'll still have to work most likely! Sure, you get time added to your age for your, but the pension certainly isn't enough to live on. Then, you can't collect from your 401k until you're at least 59 and a half. Still, don't see your rumor offer happening!

Five years to age, 5 years to service and $5,000. for each year of service is the enhanced offer coming down the pike. Not a joke, man.

The west is definitely not having any layoffs in craft this year. There's enough people to do the work and enough work to keep them all busy and happy with overtime.

Minneapolis is targeted because Dallas doesn't like their weather and politics.

The union contract is not worthless. On the contrary, its worthiness is quite splendid indeed. As specifically related to this forum - layoffs - the CWA union contract with Leg T gives laid off members a nice termination package up to 104 weeks pay for workers with over 31 years. That's valuable! And some of us expect to be laid off this year due to automation and the shifting of work to cheaper labor.

Layoffs in craft won't be nearly as bad as everyone thinks. Possible offers to leave the company, but only a couple here and there.
