Intel OC6 Silence: Complying with police investigation or CYA tactics to defend against possible "wrongful death" type lawsuit

Internally, the company has issued only a very brief general statement on the matter and apparently has wiped away any electronic trace of existence of the perpetrator, Derrick Simmons.

Given that Simmons had a past felony for as--ult with a deadly we-pon that HR apparently ignored or missed in their background check, Intel clearly screwed up from a risk management standpoint and exposed itself to liability for the death of the first victim (RIP Dan Foster) and injury to the second (wishes for fast recovery for Jaron Williams).

Does anyone know if any employees are being told or otherwise coerced by Intel Management not to discuss the matter freely in any way? Or if there have been any organized, internal discussions on the matter initiated by Intel Upper Management, HR, or Legal.

People don’t need to know the horrible details of what happened, but they do need to know what changes to the following will be implemented to reduce the likelihood of another similar episode:

  1. Security
  2. Early conflict intervention
  3. Background check and hiring practices

On campus safety is EVERY employee’s business.

Just wait until one of those right wing ex military clowns snaps and goes off. Hey, is what you risk when hiring for a tax break only....

Security is here to protect the buildings/property along with IP, but not the employees on the campus. Really surprised someone with Simmons background was hired.

I remember back around 2015 Intel was amongst a group of tech companies that were defendants in this antitrust lawsuit that they lost. All employees got some $ from this as a result of a settlement award that Intel and the other tech companies they colluded with had to pay. Other than briefly mentioning why this extra payment was made to employees, Intel management told Intel employees not to talk about it further.

What really can put the gag on a topic is an HR Legal investigation.

This is like any other police investigation. Speaking about specifics isn’t allowed. Plus, as was pointed out, it’s not our business. Yes, your curiosity won’t be satiated. Boo hoo.

RIP Dan.

Intel employees are risk for termination if they speak to the media. All the interviews have been with spouses. They risk termination speaking about Intel in any capacity to the press.

The entrance at OC2 is not manned during weekends due to security budget cuts. That being said INTEL DOES NOT HAVE ARMED SECURITY! They pay for bottom tier securitas and most employees are elderly or physically unfit. Intel has had a glaring lack of security for the better part of a decade.

They don't care. Fab workers are cattle to Intel.

C, neither.

Intel hasn’t said anything because they forgot. They forgot because they don’t care.

The victims deserve more from Intel than silence. So do employees.

Statement from Dan Foster's family:

“Dan was a loving husband, father, son, and brother. Dan was with Intel for 22 years. This senseless act took a good man away from his loving family. He was the type of guy that would do anything for anyone...even somebody he didn't know. He would make you laugh and give you the shirt off his back. There are not enough words that describe the great person Dan was. It is devastating for our family, so many lives have been changed by this horrific act.”
