It will help others and give an overall assessment of the groups affected. The company keeps most employees in the dark about the numbers and groups when widespread management layoffs happen. At least there are specifics when Union members are surplussed.

You are 100% correct. I'm one of those guys. I got let go back in Oct of 2019 and three months later I landed with a nonprofit organization which pays me less but gives me so much more. In fact, the layoff got me thinking hard about my personal priorities and I decided there was no way in heaven or earth that I would ever again dedicate my work and effort to help an over-stuffed, incompetent, arrogant d'ouchenozzle CEO get an even bigger annual bonus, or work for a company that nothing but disdain for the employees.
So I turned my attention to working somewhere that does good, not just does profit for major shareholders. I now earn about 12% less than I did with T, but I am so content. The CEO of my org earns a whopping $250K per year compared to Stink, who earns that in less than a month. There is no constant threat of layoffs hanging over my head. My work is appreciated by colleagues, and it goes to making real improvement in the lives of others. My mind is at ease, and I enjoy working.
It just feels great to not be worried that the CEO will do something stupid which will lead to layoffs, that my effort has impact and is worthwhile, and that I can hold my head up high and tell people what I do with pride, rather than have to apologize for saying I worked at T.
tl;dr -- @mmf+1leOmsRj is right. Leaving T one way or the other is the best thing that could happen to anyone.
They should be able to be rehired in other sales groups after 6 months.
Just heard the entire overlay co-location sales team was impacted today. Good luck to them
What was the name of the ACR East employee cut?
It has already started in ACE East.
I didnt get the call but one of the hardest working and most resourceful guys I know just got the axe. Absolutely stupid to lose his knowledge and ability.
Even staying, I'm getting ready to leave. I thought this website was just full of salty ex employees (and it is) but they are right that this company has no culture, no drive, no direction, and is dead in the water. They want voluntary exits? Its about to happen, bucko. Enjoy your golden parachute and contractors di-king around lying to you about meeting dates they dont give a fu-k about.
"... just feel for the employees that are impacted by layoffs. I was laid off years ago and it's an absolutely awful and helpless feeling. You're on your own with no recourse unless you have backup employment with another employer"
Your sentiment is coming from the right place, so I am not looking to be combative.
Here's the thing though. You are stating that one must adopt this victimhood mentality. This isn't at all necessary or advisable.
Even if you are not 100% "prepared", with another job lined up right away...you're probably going to be just fine. You'll have some time to get your stuff together. Get that resume up to snuff. Contact old colleagues, get networking.
You see many people here talking about how being laid off from big T was probably the best thing that has ever happened to them professionally. I have been here 20+ years and saw many friends let go over that period of time. Not a single one of them has any regret, and the vast majority are either thriving at new companies or enjoying retirement.
Chin up, you're going to be fine.
Not trying to be funny here, just feel for the employees that are impacted by layoffs. I was laid off years ago and it's an absolutely awful and helpless feeling. You're on your own with no recourse unless you have backup employment with another employer. Best to all affected, sincerely!
Folks just need to be respectful today. Safe to assume that 10% (15K) of the company's headcount will be impacted today. Good luck to all those impacted.
Re:
I could certainly tell you which org is not going to be affected by any layoffs,
I have seen spreadsheets you have not……. I know what group you’re talking about and trust me your group is on deck…… maybe they don’t get you because of seniority but you will have friends impacted…….
This won’t be funny for you to watch much longer
I could certainly tell you which org is not going to be affected by any layoffs, but that would be cruel and this is definitely not a time to be cruel. Good luck out there to all you soon to be former ATT employees!
A layoff report is when any informed person post the information with specifics.
Example: In my or XYZ org the company via phone or mail just surplussed 2 engineers out 20 in my group. So 10% were let go.
I got an invite in my email for 8:30am tomorrow
Always a bunch of company trolls trying to highjack threads with nonsense when anyone ask for specifics. Not going to work, concerned employees like to be informed and not be a company stooge or lemming.
my org azm relieved me tonight
What exactly is a layoff report?
I don’t recall ever being sent one and I have been through this many times over the last decade or more.
Please post names and departments of those affwcted.
my mail org an got laid & off by surpuss slot overtime finishing in speaker bung 2 plug babbling blah blah...
Get a grip.
Don’t tell me what to do. I’ll post it wherever I want.
I need to know everything. Tell me everything you know. I just have to know now. Everyone, stop everything and share it now. I’m not trying to be hysterical, I’m a rational individual that just needs to know as much as possible. I know that I will find this information later on in say and SEC filing, but I’m too irrationally or unintelligible enough to figure that out. I just want to know it all now. ( This is all sarcasm by the way - You need to get help. Put down the bottle. There is more to life than a job. You will survive).
I prefer seeing individual threads, with specific information, rather than a thread go sideways with useless posts info. What is being posted works, and again, specific information when relevant is preferred. I posted my org in another thread. I am sick and tired of this bull.cr-p. Not aimed at you.
