C&E Engineer, 21 years in, not a ringer. What now? Guess I'll have to pick up the pieces. Already know jobs, good jobs, are few and far between. I think I'll go out and get drunk.

Get drunk and slam your car into a cross box. That’ll show them.
Good luck my friend, just know that alot of engineers that have left that I know are doing very well for themselves at other companies. Go contract and look for something more permanent, your skills acquired from engineering are transferable to other utilities, but it sometimes takes multiple applications. I hope the best for you and your family and hope you find something with less layoff pressure than AT&T. This has been a rough 13 years for all employees, electric and gas have been through this way less than us... I'd start there
Plenty of defence contract positions. May need clearance though.

go to the contract firm that we use for engineering. They usually snap ex-engineers right up. It'll pay until you find something better.
