Honestly, I think employEES can and will win this RTO fiasco...only problem is it won't be for this workforce generation... We'll see the brunt of their stupidity!

@1nqq+1lbruUdY, I get the appeal on paper of moving expensive US-based roles to cheap labor in India, but in my 20+ years working for 4 different companies who did this, the result is always the same - garbage output from these "cheap" resources. It's nearly impossible to get the same level of quality from an offshore group. I've never fully understood why, but in my 13 months here at WF it's been exactly the same steaming pile coming from the offshore group. I was asked to use the India team to offload some of my work, and in each scenario (3 projects so far) they did absolutely nothing of value that I didn't have to redo.

All this while SVB is out moving your jobs to India - really he's there this week.

That's where I am. I just don't care any more. You can only be lied to, belittled, demeaned and BSd so many times before you give up. You can only get so many "meets" when you know in your mind that you deserve better. I'm a self motivated person, but suffering repeated indignities has the ability to sap that resource. I don't care what cute little reports the lackies have put together, RTO has already failed. All we're doing with it now is going through the motions and minimizing it's impact on our lives instead of, you know, actually working and going above/beyond to make this company a success. The current execs have ki-led any love for the job that people had. Now it's just a grind and just work. It's an innovation ki-ler.

The only thing vibrant with a downtown is the criminal element that continues to grow and grow.
When employees no longer feel safe to go to an office, it is in their best interest to not go. Use this as an excuse. Your safety is paramount - at least that’s what our trainings say.

It’s ridiculous. Turn your phones off people.
You think the people all around you want to hear every time you get an email or text.
I really hate RTO, people are so inconsiderate.

Clearly our leadership at the very top has avoided educating themselves on what good leadership is. In B school we extolled the virtues of wise leaders that recognized the value and humanity of their teams and customers. There are many podcasts, TED talks and books with similar threads. But somehow our leaders have buried their heads in the sand and have doubled down on disrespecting us, belittling us, lying to us and using us. We will not be able to move on from regulatory issues or invest in technology like we need to with employees who aren’t giving it their best. I know many smart and passionate people who just aren’t giving their best. Why would any of us? I hope CS moves on soon and we can get a leader that understands the human component of running a business. I’m just not sure I’m willing to wait around for that.

FRTO and the clowns on the OC supporting it. It's a failed policy and the people behind it are very temporary. They'll probably be gone in a year or two, and that will be a great day for all of us. Never give up. I will oppose this BS until my last breath. Viva la Resistance.

Re: “ RTO helps to rebuild a vibrant downtown economy and our leaders are under pressure from local government to bring us back.
Also, the banking industry has a direct interest in the financing of said commercial property.”

I used to buy this argument but not any more. When they close offices in one part of the metro to move people twenty minutes to a different city (not downtown) and are then selling buildings, the reasoning above no longer holds water.

@1nex, good for them /s. I'm bringing my breakfast and lunch with me. And my earplugs.

And since I'm wasting time commuting, I won't be working long hours and WF will be losing about 12 hours of my time each week that I would have spent doing work for them in the evenings.

I'm in a location that isn't one of the large hubs so my WF career has essentially stalled. So no, I won't just take more hours from my time to support their crazy notion that I need to sit on an office with no one that I know to be on the phone with my team who are also in offices scattered throughout the US without anyone they know. And yes I will be bitter about RTO because I'm not returning to anywhere I've ever been. So this isn't return for me. It's clearly leadership's attempt to prove that they can control us.

I agree, we as employees can't win this fight. However, I am going to do my part to make sure that they don't get any benefit from forcing me to do something so id--tic.

And yes, I've just started looking for a new job outside of WF. It's become far too toxic here.

RTO costs employee money. It costs us time and flexibility. Productivity can stay the same if leaership measures output. So its in our advantage to keep RTO but employers dont like employees beeing too comfortable. Its a threat to them and since we, employees need them more than they need us, we cant win this fight
