Just invest in TDS and USM, then you won’t have to work.

Get back to work and collaborate. They sold too many offices in your area? Don’t worry, they’ll just lay you off instead.

My director informed our team yesterday. Announcement in early March, details still being worked out but flex workers expected to be at office 3 or 4 days weekly. If you are full time teleworker, they will audit your status and let your management know if you can continue wfh full time or not.

One shouldn't underestimate the stupidity of "leadership". Can they mandate return to the office - sure they can. Really simply process to pull logs on where you are logging in from (that's a no-brainer) and reduce your EOY rating by 1 if not complying (as they has done with other mandated training). Also if people leave on their own accord no severance (win for AT&T during all of these layoffs). Regarding the "they can't lay us off the systems would go to he-l" attitude - "99%" of the systems are managed by contractors - their SLAs will keep the systems running (to the contractual levels). RE: not enough office space - while I agree with that, maybe Stankey is trying to "right-size" the employees to office-space levels - LOL - sorta like a boat - you are either in the boat (office) or bye-bye.

Funny story, they cancelled the lease on our building, 100% occupied by at&t. All employees vacated the building. A month later Kettering Police responded to an alarm, found 2 thieves stealing all the copper out of the building. Doubtful building will ever be leased in the future!

I will never return to the office. There is absolutely no reason to. I like to listen to all the weak reasons why I should return to the office, it's hilarious! Stankey and his cronies cannot successfully manage any process or program, this is no different. I'll call their bluff, very anxious to see them try to pull this off. Try as they might, this will be another miserable failure by Stankey!

So much for AT&T being part of the new woke green deal! If they're so concerned with global warming and green house gases like the rest of the woke libs, then WFH should be a mandate company wide just to help reduce carbon emissions from combustion engines. There is approximately 6-8% of the commuters driving electric vehicles on the road today because they're too expensive for the average ATT worker!

Good luck with this. Most of the office space remaining where I live could not support the number of AT&T workers. They have closed several buildings over the last 10 years. I guess we can all pile in 3 to a cubical.

As a L1 “flex-worker”, we were required to come in once a week. I had been working from home for years, but started going to the office almost everyday for a while now. It has been pretty nice for me because I feel better and more focused at the office. My productivity was higher when WFH because it is much easier to get lost in time spent working and not take a lunch or work well past the 8 hrs.

Now I get my 8 hrs in at the office and go home. I never take a lunch whether I WFH or at the office (I keep healthy snacks in my desk drawer though). I typically do 4-5 hrs additional per week working from the office, but nothing like the 10-15+ extra hours while WFH. The only downside for me for working at the office is the $100/week I spend in fuel. Other than that, I don’t mind it one bit.

Haha I’m at work everyday with about 12 union people. The other 185 that are supposed to be here are never ever here. We have plenty of room for probably 800 people if needed.

Yeah, getting back to the office to "collaborate" in person makes a ton of sense when most teams have their members scattered across several states and time zones.

Lmao at all you people saying they won't force you back to work. I'm in the CLG department in Earth City. Trust me we get paid more than y'all customer service, sales, chat team, tech support and collection reps. We had 125+ reps working from home and they got us all back in the office. I can say the same for Amarillo that has over 75 reps and San Antonio that has over 100 reps as well. All of them returned to work. Some of y'all think AT&T cares if you don't return? They route calls all the time so it doesn't matter if it's busy. They will stay below radar and not get fined by the FCC even if 300+ reps quit or walked out

L1 - L5 Atlanta employees working from home.
L1s are hourly and get paid overtime just like union — add low productivity and it gets very expensive for this WFH arrangement in Atlanta. Leadership is duped bc some people come in once in a while.

I also remember when we were going to be all fiber by 2020 with all customers moved off of copper.

Correction:
I believe you’re confusing this with SDN. ATT never said it would be all fiber by 2020. T stated that it would have a Software Defined Network by 2020 and achieved that goal by 2019 ahead of schedule. It’s got a long way to go before it’s totally off copper.

Not gonna happen. Stanley could say whatever he wants but no way we go back to 3-4 days per week. We employs have more power than you think. If we don’t show up to work who will run the business? Our processes and databases are so old and cr---y. 1 week the entire company would fall apart.

Is all of this because of the story about overemployment? I think so! That news article really got Stankey running scared.

Most, if not all telecommuters will never return to the office. They realize at&t could never manage everyone returning to the office. Stankey has blown smoke before, this is no different. Once employees telecommute, they will never return to the office under any circumstances.

Expect WFH to slowly, very slowly be retracted. Not completely, but systematically reduced. Not surprising, but where T has closed real estate , they will leverage shared 3rd party office resources ( Regus). This frankly is the last thing people should be worried about though. The company is in an extremely vulnerable spot financially. Layoffs will continue with regular cadence but it will take a major sell off of assets to save the brand.

Surely Stankey has a trick up his sleeve to salvage the damage he has caused. Prey tell what that may be.

It's the double, triple up per cube concept. Pick your office companions now - you don't want to sit next to someone with IBD, flatulance, a smoker or a belching problem.
Choose wisely. Now.

Impossible! We have no office to return to. What an id--t! Most everyone in NY/NJ must be exempt. As with any new plan or process, at&t could never successfully manage it. Try as they might they always fail. It's really funny, when I try to think of one process or plan they have effectively managed, i come up empty. Truth hurts.
