Give up on ever being promoted

It's disheartening, but the truth is, if you're looking to climb the corporate ladder in Honeyhell, you'll need to have connections in management. It's not about how hard you work or how qualified you are. Instead, it's become about who you know. It's quite frustrating that this company, being so large, only seems to favor those who have a family legacy within this place. For the rest of us, we're simply left to fend for ourselves.

It's always a mistake to associate with people like this. They'll turn on you when you least expect it, part of the game they play. Eventually they all get it in the end, but you will likely be hit first if you have any ethics or dignity.

If you do get promoted you will be threatened “if you’re not kicking into a higher gear you’re dead meat”. It’s not a “thank you we really need to keep you around” situation.

Hey now, come on man. You mean every line of business is taxed 10% on the SGA P & L to roll up to executive compensation is more than fair. Consider the awe you feel deep inside when you look at the org chart and see the executives. I mean you know to look at the tailored suit, then never make eye contact, open the door for me and offer a compliment. Now go back to your job function area and be thankful I nodded my chin and smiled. I am off to a meeting because we are missing revenue, suppliers are late (we pay them twice a year), and our bonus targets look soft for the quarter. Priority one is RIF, then outsource, then 2X retention bonuses for our glory.

Honeywell plays games with titles, promotions, and new hires. One thing is constant, however. Everyone but the way top heavy VP and Director crowed are underpaid. Usually by a lot. Why does one division need 40 VPs anyway? There’s way more of them than there are actual worker bees. The executives make sure it’s you, worker bee, who is getting cut and not them.

If you want a promotion, leave the company. Even if you get the same level job, you will be paid more.

Heard of that game of threatening to leave. Not saying it doesn't work, but I did hear that HR won't take you seriously until you can present the other offer (which is bs). By then, it's too late. But there's good news, you'll have a new job amd more money, likely better benefits and way less stress! Speaking from personal experience.

The only way to get a promotion and thus a pay raise is to threaten to leave to go to another company. The Promotion Skills Assessment process is complete BS and is intended to make it impossible to gain a promotion on skills and experience alone. The answer is to Start Looking!
