The only collaboration I've done in the office (where none of my team works) is to commiserate about how awful and id--tic RTO is.

That’s news to me. Like the other poster my manager and most of the people I work with day-to-day are across the country, despite my being in in one of the “hubs” and plenty of the people in our larger group being in my city (across multiple offices). Multiple people a few rungs up from my manager actually are in my office, but they’ve got way too much going on to have more than a few brief conversations with me in a given year. So who’s getting laid off/relocated? My manager and the rest of my immediate team or myself plus the senior leaders above all of them? Would be utterly pointless anyway, I actually do have a really great working relationship with the people I work with daily despite never having seen most of them in person.

It’s where grown men look forward to coming to peg around with their coworkers away from their wives and families. The rest are just g-y 🤷🏿‍♀️

"I could use a good tailing. Might be worth it."

I could grant you that. Might make RTO worth it.

Scharf did the same thing with Visa. They are based out of SF as well and he wouldn't move from NYC.

That will be fixed with location strategy. You are on the upcoming layoff list as they cut people who aren't near their coworkers and consolidate teams.

the rules are show up in the office an average of 3 days per week over the course of each month or get a taling to. get talked to enough and you'll likely get a poor performance rating, salary, bonus.

CS, aka the Schart plays by his own rules. WF established 1852 headquarters is SF so where is our CEO? NY of course because he plays by his own rules. CS is horrid the only thing he and his gang of crownies care about is RTO. Meanwhile fines continue, clients account balances are incorrect but oh got to get people in the office. What a joke this pampered clown is.

please explain to me how I'm supposed to "collaborate" in the office when NO ONE from my LOB is there!! There are people there....but they are not part of my org. So, what's the point?

Don't forget about the massive expense of putting people in buildings or the risk involved with that. Workplace violence, harassment, discrimination, work comp claims, and all the expenses that go along with it.

RTO is Return to Office. Is it that difficult to comprehend? It literally tells you what to do in the title

If you have to ask, then you should just send your laptop and badge back and call it quits.

RTO does not rule, it sucks.

Varies by group, by management communicating, by week. Completely inconsistent and what is communicated verbally may be inconsistent with written communication. Absolutely zero basis tying RTO to actual work function or deliverables. Even the ceo eschews RTO and refuses to return to his SF office.

RTO has done nothing but ruin morale and productivity.

Which is ironic because we were told that RTO exists to do the opposite.

But the C suite has decided to dig its heels in, apparently to save face. The C suite doesn't (or refuses to) understand that RTO might make sense for companies with much smaller headcounts at one location.

So, we're all expected to commute to an office, which has the following impacts:

  • wasting money on fuel, mileage, wear and tear
  • further contributing to ruining the environment, despite Wells' stated carbon reduction goals
  • risking vehicular collisions. Most accidents happen during rush hour
  • increased stress to employees with no benefit or payoff to Wells or anyone else
  • further diminishment of employees' confidence in leadership's ability to make sound decisions
  • as noted above, tanked morale and productivity

There is literally no upside to RTO for anyone. This silly idea that people are having impromptu conversations about how Wells can further succeed is like nails on a chalkboard. No one does this! Everyone is heads down until quitting time.

This bank desperately needs younger-thinking leadership at the top.
