It’s all about the safety weight restrictions for all the equipment, nobody is discriminating against you because you are a large person or questioning your competency. You need to quit obsessing about yourself and move on, I’m sure you have other talents that would allow you to be employed elsewhere.
This whole notion of bias against heavy people has got to stop. It's just another form of bullying that society chooses to ignore. As long as I can do my job is all that matters. I get tired of everyone thinking you have to be a twinkle. What about Lizzo? Get a life.

“Individual rights”, lol. Every clown is suddenly a constitutional scholar when they don’t like something. The weight limits aren’t because they don’t want fatsos, heck every other tech is overweight as is anyway, it’s the limits the equipment is rated for and what T is gonna follow for insurance purposes. Oh and for the record a tech tested the company on the policy a few years back trying to get cute and out of climbing because he gained weight, guy was tall too, and you know what happened? The company and the union came to agreement, the tech was given a certain amount of time to lose weight enough to conform to the rule or he would be terminated. He got his fat a-s in shape quick like. So if you wanna fu-k around and find out there is already precedent for it all.

Bell system used to make sure their technicians had the best tools available to perform their work. No so much anymore. Sad how we have regressed.
In my area, Metronet only uses the highest quality ladders. Much better than at&t uses. Their ladders are fully adjustable, either or both legs can be lowered to level in uneven terrain. Fiberglass construction, excellent ladder built to last a lifetime.
Most 24 or 28 foot ladders max out at 260lbs.

A lot of employees gained weight during the pandemic when everyone was telecommuting full-time. Most members of my department got fat!
The weight limit is based on safety limits for body belts, ladders, etc..
Weight limits are a threat to our individual civil rights. Some cats like me can handle 350# with no issues, I'm 6'10". This weight limit cr-p needs to stop now.

BFS technicians have to climb poles and ladders also. No man holes though. Weight limits apply. Consult your local steward for job requirements if you’re not able to find it.
Then you should apply for BFS technicians so you don't have to worry about that kind of weight nonsense!
300 lbs is the limit when you go in for pre hire physical. I know a guy who had to start two months after his coworkers because he needed time to get down to the limit.
What is it without tools
Just reminder, you will have to climb ladders or hook poles to reach terminals. Crawl spaces, attics and manholes or dug pits depending on title.
