yep att management is a joke and are children.
I disagree in some cases. If a worldwide recession or depression hits on a macroeconomic level, then it is not the fault of the leadership. It is simply a fact. On a microeconomic level, five years ago, you could sense a big shift was coming. In telecom, it death knell started ringing with SIP services. Add SD WAN that most companies are running on now, and you replace the last of the high margin MPLS products with lower margin dedicated Internet, or worse, consumer/small business broadband services. What I can't understand is why telecom rolled over so easily and gave their product away. They took our products and made them another commodity. I remember when we did SOCS training 12 years ago and it was all about selling the solution. Now, 12 years later, it is all widgets.

Not poor management for years at ATT, more like decades! I've been with this company for 4 decades and have not seen a successful leader with real telecom leadership skills since Charles L. Brown back in the late 70s early 80s! It must be very difficult to lead a telecom company due to the constantly changing technology as well as consumer demands!
Absolute truth. Same things my professors said in business school. If a company has layoffs it is a sure sign of poor leadership and horrible management. Leadership has failed in their job to spot market trends, economic trends, dangers from the competition, failed to have meaningful R &D, failed to gain competitive advantages in their industry. In general they have failed in every facet of the business.
In the case of AT&T, this company has had poor leadership and bad management for years. Starting with the BOD and rolling downhill. The trend is continuing.
Business needs change. No harm, no foul. If you don’t want layoffs go start your own company!
