How Mary Mack gets almost 50% pay increase year over year is beyond me. Consumer is a disaster.

She gave us that genius David Kowach for several years. He must be worth a $25M bump in her pay just for that wonderful choice.

Let's be serious, the stock price is 21 points below the high of the last 5 years! Does anybody deserve a 50% increase?
Every bonus given out to the C-suite over the past 5 years should be clawed back. And F the BOD for approving any of it.
I always liked MM, was disappointed when she didn't get CEO last time around. So much for DE&I - all talk and then they appoint a white guy?

This is the best explanation I’ve seen on how/why everything goes wrong at Wells Fargo.
Not just MM, but every leader in the bank. Bad news, or the truth of things, is considered “negativity.” Critical questions and healthy feedback are discouraged, and the yes-men are looked upon with great favor.
Mary Mack has no idea what goes on underneath of her and all of her yes-men are lined up to tell her the good news while the disaster continues to rum amok in the front-lines. This place is far too large for anyone at the Executive level to really have any true understanding of how things really operate. They only know what they are told. They won't ever have the ability to inspect/verify anything for themselves. Their understanding comes from what they are fed and the people feeding them aren't in the business of bad news.

@1asg, you are spreading lies. MM is just good at playing d-mb. And she is d-mb. No one is jealous of that fake, old bat. She knew about all of the corruption when it was happening. And was most likely part of it in one way or another.

MM has a good PR person who makes her look like this nice southern folksy banking sage but the truth is, she is another Carrie Tolsted. Her reports are scared cr-p less to ever bring her bad news. When that trait is present you have a problem at the leader level.
SP is a POS. MM would be infinitely better. Then again ANYONE would be better than SP so maybe that's not saying much.
they are just giving her the $67 million they clawed back from Carrie T.
They need a woman who they can point to as the anti-carrie tolstedt that's why. It doesn't mean her and her leaders are great business people but that theyre not committing fraud.
