Short term disability now only 8 weeks

Reminder that Honeywell is cutting short term disability from 26 weeks @100% to 8 weeks then 18 @70% effective April first.

Check your HR direct page. They threw up a small notice about the change there.

When was this communicated? Love how this company slips these things by us. I'm sure it said that this was a good thing for the employee when it is not.

I don’t know the law. Does the federal law require a company to give short term disability. If so what’s the minimum they can give you, could Honeywell give you one day short term disability. Which would be paid at one percent. Ha ha ha

So much for my plan to fall down the unlit stairs.. no i am not telling where they are... reported a year ago and it was ignored. Counselor says that was enough.

There are always some -- the newly graduated or the newly immigrated -- who seem to be impressed by a "famous name" even though it is a has-been, and are willing to put up with the nonsense.

By cutting the benefits, Honeywell can reduce the financial liability on the books and show "profit." Shows the desperation to "make the numbers" at the end of Q1, which means our "esteemed leaders" are running out of accounting tricks. Bet the SEC would like to take a look at some of the other garbage being done, since the auditors don't seem to be able to figure it out. Can you say PR tax scam?

Lemme me guess guess kiddies.... the memo from HR said once again Honeywell is proud to provide benefits that are far worse then any of its peers and in order to stay in the lead we now have reduced your short disability. At Honeywell we are not happy until you are not happy! Stayed tuned for more benefit reductions coming later this year. Oh yeah, the fat tax is coming back stronger then ever. Eat up while you can!

Been expecting this due to the news about excess mortality rates due to something related to the Federal Contractor Mandate.

Expect the same for Honeywell's health & life insurance coverage & rates!

Sh-t company doing sh-t company things. Count on Honeywell to cut benefits to the bone and cheat anyone they possible can as long as they can get away with it.

I didn't think that we even had short term (or long term for that matter) disability anymore. Maybe it's only some SBGs or certain SBUs? Or maybe by state or something? Or a union thing? Assuming @OP is in the US. I know that I haven't had either in at least 10 years.

Figures! I somehow missed that during the 2023 “benefits” change memo. This is really getting out of hand…

Just remember to keep repeating the lie, kids:

What's causing all of the absenteeism the past 2 years? What could it possibly be?
