Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

The people who are for RTO...

  1. Cannot manage themselves and need to be in the office and controlled.
  2. Are new in the workforce and cannot grasp why WFH is successful for those who have done it for years since they started at WF.
  3. Are simply parroting on these boards what they hear about RTO being all that.

Discuss.

@OP+1lPHeCd8, not really, some like to be in office, sounds like you don't want to go into the office because they'd find out you don't do anything.

It's mo--ns in Hudson Yards that are screwing things up for everyone. The anti-RTO legion isn't doing anything to you. NYC is the ones taking away your benefits, outsourcing, selling off / destroying entire businesses, and wasting $ on housing people for no reason. They are the problem, not us.

Lol, keep licking those boots.

Simply proclaiming that you're not a bootlicker doesn't make it so. Your actions will always speak louder than your words, and for as long as you pathetically carry water for people that have no respect for you, then you're a bootlicker to the rest of us.

We're sorry that you lack the aptitude to work from home. Or maybe you're just lonely and rely on forced conversations with strangers at work for the illusion of social interaction? Sad for you.

Either way, the rest of us see your obvious personal shortcomings as your problem, not ours.

The natural reaction to stupidity is to respond with more stupidity. That is what the anti-RTO crowd has done. And everyone pays for it and will continue to do so.

It is hard to remember half of everyone you meet will have a below average intelligence. But the anti-RTO crowd and how they have handled the situation is a reminder.

Wow, the bootlickers are out in force today.

Sad that so many of you were/are too weak to resist RTO.

So instead, to not look weak, you act like RTO makes sense.

A few basic reminders for the bootlickers:

  • The people whose A you're kissing don't respect you at all
  • Pretending to support RTO will not get you promoted, saved from layoffs, etc.
  • Bootlicking only ever results in the bootlicker eventually feeling shame and regret for selling themselves out with nothing to show for it.

Those of us staying true to our values won't ever look back with regret, no matter what happens.

99% of the bank hates RTO. A few nepotistic, incompetent execs won't change that fact. We just need to ride it out until those execs finally vacate their roles, OR until those execs stop denying the math that WFH is better for everyone.

I could see how kids fresh out of college might want to be in-person. They haven’t been in their jobs long enough to realize there really is no point to going in, and they’re hoping they’ll have better mentorships and feel less “on their own” in-person.

Also, they may have just come from a college experience marred by Covid where they had a semester or two full-remote that felt sub-par, and haven’t realized yet that the drawbacks to full-remote education are not necessarily the same as full-remote work.

Dang right I'm angry. I found a remote job, at WF. Was doing it for years before COVID. F CS, F SP and FRTO. I'm not leaving and giving them what they want, if they want to get rid of me they'll need to pony up a ton of severance.

Oh look, another anti RTO thread from another whiny baby. How original…. What a pitiful life you anti RTO peeps live. It’s not that bad and if it is there is this thing called find another job. Try it out, the bank will move on without you just fine and probably better.

That's a pipe dream. There's no way for 100k people to coordinate such an effort to ensure consistence across the board, and the natural reaction to stupidity is resistance, so it was an eventuality even if a large majority agreed with you and wanted to game the system with your strategy. If we're dreaming of things that couldn't happen, how about zero people showing up at the office after RTO started? That would have solved the problem as well, but it's also a pipe dream.

In any event, it's Hudson Yards that dragged this fight into the gutter, not us. F every one of them. It'll cost the company a lot more than they think before this fight is over. Sure, they'll fire some of us, but they wanted to do that anyway. Bootlicking isn't going to save anyone. Thousands of the best people, who have lots of options, leaving the company + people retiring to escape the stupidity + tanked morale will cause grievous damage and manifest in countless ways across the "firm". The ivory tower can't actually DO anything. All they can do is make bold proclamations and hope everyone follows. We earn this company money, not them and no one is buying their constant lies anymore. The vast majority have tuned out. They can say whatever they want, they can't control our response to the BS.

The people who are fighting RTO have a failed strategy ruining it for everyone.

They could have simply gone back into the office, knowing that over time they could fade back into WFH.

An extra day here and there... slowly making that extra day all the time, then adding another extra day here and there.. repeat.

I made my job WFH. My boss was hundreds of miles away. I'd have days where I decided to just log in from home. Over the course of a year, I moved myself to fully remote. My boss did not see a drop in productivity so he decided to have me fill out a telecommuters agreement and made me full time WFH as he could then save AU charges for my in office work space. A few others on my team had done the same. And we all became full time WFH.

All everyone had to do was ride it out for a year or two, creeping more and more time at home.

Instead you all have struck a nerve with the executives who see the fighting RTO as questioning their authority. You've dinged their ego and will pay for it.

And now others will pay the consequences of your stupidity because you created a nanny state of reports ran against everyone badging in.

It could have been a strategic fade back to WFH. You screwed it up for everyone.

I did find remote work, at WF. Then a worthless POS in NYC who doesn't know S about what I do or how I do it decided to tank morale and send me to a building for no reason. F him, he won't be on the stagecoach long before he goes off to destroy another company d-mb enough to hire him. I'm not letting that little S chase me off, better to resist from within. Eventually sanity will prevail and we will win. Viva la Resistance.

We need to sponsor highly educated, highly skilled H1b workers instead, they have no problem of showing up.

I did a scientific poll of my technology former teammates who are still at Wells, and they are overwhelmingly afraid to lose their 6 weeks of PTO and of going back to the office. They also are extremely overpaid for what they do and couldn’t hope to get a job that pays them what they get now…if they could get a job at all.

The ones that have left on their own or have been let go, OTOH, are, well, predominantly happier and making more money than they were. Many of us still WFH.

So forgive me if coming back to see the same low skilled easily replaceable people whining years later is something approaching hilarious. A lot of entitlement on this board…not a lot of brains or guts.

I agree with another poster, the lockdown pandemic is over. Back to reality, or find remote work. It's that simple.

It isn’t about being for it or against it. It’s about facing reality. You can do what your managers tell you or get another job. You get to choose which of those happen first. Bi--hing on an internet message board doesn’t change anything.
