Rto

Does anyone know if it’s moving to 5 days a week? I am borderline about to quit as is!

5 days a week? Ask Corporate Properties says, "Yeah, no..."

If they make it 5 days I can't handle that. I live far from CIC and the gas expense will be painful, not to mention the overall burn out. I'll be stepping up the job hunt.

@2icn+1lOlAmOJ: But if we do take what you say at face value, that would have to be the most flawed reasoning I’ve heard.

Actually, that's what that poster was implying. Your comprehension skills are weak. Read it again. You obviously didn't get that the poster was pointing out the absurdity of the RTO decree of Charlie and the gang; that it makes no sense as they associate it with DEI. But here you are, all defensive at what you've stupidly confused was an attack on DEI, so you start swinging the bat with your virtue signaling. Don't worry: you'll get to flaunt all that virtue as you spend 5 days a week on site.

I realize you’re probably just a troll who hates DEI so you’re making up BS to try to tie DEI to everyone’s hatred for RTO so maybe they’ll hate it as much as you do.

But if we do take what you say at face value, that would have to be the most flawed reasoning I’ve heard. Discrimination and harassment are so much more likely to occur in-person; if anything full remote would be the great equalizer for DEI, because it becomes more about your work output and less about how well you fit into the in-office “clique”.

@2opx+1lOlAmOJ that's fairly accurate. I'm in HR, the only thing I would add or clarify to what you heard is that (1) it might be sooner than June. Word is Charlie Boy is fuming that RTO is not moving fast enough, and doesn't like hubs having empty cubicles. (2) Using the new branding in terms of culture change is a mask to force people out from frustrations with RTO. Sure, they're serious about a new image, make Wells more like google in terms of culture with end of week town halls about cultural issues and discussions about inclusion and social equity; but the real goal is to force out people. It's working because I'm resigning this week. For me, the daily commute with RTO is brutal.

@1yvg+1lOlAmOJ, "RTO 5 days a week beginning in July."

I heard it's June. For coinciding with Pride month. Coworkers in my area are saying it's a big push all tied with DEI as we are all driven back through RTO. Diverse workforce, solidarity, close collaboration for everyone including with coworkers in the LGBTQ community. A new Wells Fargo. Innovation, soaring revenue here we come, done thru diversity, face-to-face collaboration, etc. That's the reasoning from old Chucky and his inner circle. Supposedly, a press release will be given to the media pointing out these changes. It includes plans for more frequent town halls that cover topics like social justice, affirmation of one another, special lectures from experts on limitations of heteronormativity. Not just in June but beyond as regular events to reinforce company culture. This is their justification for cracking down on RTO. We'll see.

lol @ "every major company". Millions are 100% WFH right now. My wife hasn't worked in person for years and isn't going to start, ever. If you don't know of any companies with lots of WFH gigs, you don't know what's happening at a lot of companies. There are a lot of businesses enacting RTO right now, and it's a stupid herd mentality, probably with some influence from political overlords. Regardless, it's a failed model and more efficient thinkers will carry the day, it's a matter of time. Right now we are paying hundreds of millions of $ to 'house' 50-75k people for absolutely no benefit. Our building footprint should be much much smaller and more efficient. Stop wasting time and money for imaginary gains. These execs right now running around talking about collaboration for jobs that don't really have any are this decades version of the "synergy" executives of the 90s. It's corporate speak BS. Been in an office recently? Ain't no collaboration for literally thousands of people, at least not with other people in the building with them. They are collaborating via digital means, which they could be doing from anywhere.

Assign us a desk if we are expected to work in the office and collaborate. I have yet to collaborate with anyone except to decide where to eat lunch. I don’t know anyone and have no clue what anyone does. I don’t even know what people look like because I only see their backs. I come in, hope no one is sitting at “my” desk, set up for the day and get on my calls. I then close down and hope that I remember to get all of my belongings to be a good steward of the space. I then leave and return to do it all over again. Every day I hope my space is available and no one has changed all the settings on the monitors or unplugged anything.

I recently had an interview and the recruiter said that 3 days in office is required “right now.” That could be interpreted differently.

RTO is not a WF thing, it's not a personal thing. Every major large company, even ones you may prefer working for, are signaling for RTO and it is going to happen.

So the question is, as a scorn WF employee, would you take a job at a better company knowing RTO is a requirement? Most likely you'll make more money and have new challenges to distract from the day to day blahs at WF. Sure you might lose some PTO, but is the extra PTO at WF worth it?

I can't see a reason why anyone wouldn't accept RTO for a better job offer somewhere else.

The fact that they call it a "performance" issue is as insulting as the rest of the policy. Nothing in my job description about sitting in a random building and I got high review scores working remote for years before COVID. Clearly this new policy has nothing to do with performance. If they want to call it conduct / insubordination, at least it wouldn't be a BS lie.

As far as there being 'no more room for resistance' goes, there's lots of room actually. Just because a person badges into a building doesn't mean they can't find ways to stick it to the man, and with the slash and burn staffing strategy there's no way in heck they can afford to pay babysitters to monitor everyone while they were in site. Their RTO BS will backfire. It's a failed policy and there's nothing they can do to change that. Viva la Resistance, to whatever end.

Some of my high performing colleagues in Commercial Banking were forced out through performance reviews. One of the criteria was not working 3 days a week onsite. Management is monitoring everyone's badges. As a result, Wells Fargo did not have to pay the company severance package. By the way, the new management received bonuses this year.

I hate RTO like everyone else, as I was remote for years prior to Covid. CIC has thousands of empty seats, just saying. I’m a Dir. and there is a serious push to get people in 3 days a week. It is a performance issue now and I am talking to the few people I have who aren’t going in. It will get serious if they continue to WFH. There’s no time left any more for resistance. The goal is to get everyone in 4 days a week, have been told that by a Sr. Exec. MOST of CIB works in the office 5 days a week and has been for a while. There are only pockets of the business where employees can do the 3 and 2.

For everyone complaining here about RTO, imagine what it would be like if you had the skillset to go somewhere else and work at a better company? Nothing is making you stay except your lack of skills or motivation. The job market has been red hot for the past several years, and the whole reason you are still in this predicament is you are too lazy or too d-mb to stop whining and do something about it.

On that note, you all are probably the ones ruining WFH for everyone else. You know, the people who never seem to answer their emails or their Teams or their phones. The laziest people I know from the Wells are the ones still holding on, praying for severance, not realizing there is no other job for them around the corner (even a baboon could have gotten another job in this labor market…).

RTO and cancer are pretty much the same thing when you think about it. They rot you from the inside out, destroy your will to live, and then take your soul.

By all means, make everyone go in 5 days a week to a facility with hotel seating. With site consolidation and layoffs not happening at the rate that they should be (passively harassing employees to quit to avoid severance isn’t working OBVIOUSLY), we’re all going to be fighting over desks and parking.

Which role’s make the most sense requiring five days in the office? Customer facing makes the most sense.. but they never had a remote option. Call Center employees would be my first pick.. if there’s any left after Manila takes all of those slots (I’m looking at you Auto Finance).

The truth is that the genie is out of the bottle. All of us need to ask ourselves if we feel it benefits us to go backwards to life in a cubicle plantation, or if the pandemic (as tragic as it was) opened us up to a more efficient and beneficial operating model. The tax breaks gained by Wells Fargo from state and local municipalities don’t benefit the employees. No one I talk to in the office stimulates the local economies by getting up earlier and wasting time and gas to log in at the office where they don’t interact with anyone other than peers at OTHER SITES who also commute in to interact virtually.

RTO is an example of a MASSIVE waste of employee time, morale, and money all for Charlie’s benefit. “Wells Fargo: The Bank Of Doing”…. the WRONG thing for it’s employees EVERY👏🏼 SINGLE👏🏼 TIME👏🏼.

This RTO and location strategy nonsense has been going on for 4+ years. It’s simply a scare tactic to increase attrition without paying severance. Regarding layoffs, they’ve happened recently to remote and non-remote employees. Employees at these “hub” locations are not safe from layoffs, just as employees who are full time remote. These managers who are paid top dollars to present redundant powerpoint decks where 75% of the material was copied from another deck will continue to push this RTO bs without following any consistent procedures for enforcing it.

The only people who truly know are not going to tell us yet. I personally see the writing on the wall. If you've seen any managerial level slide decks you can infer this. It has to be the end goal as this entire Location Strategy and realignment has been going on since what, 2019 now? The only real question, that is a moving target anyways, is what will the drop dead date be for this change. No doubt this will take years and have some sort of off-kilter implementation plan so you can ride it out hoping for a Severance, ride it out and be put into a situation where there is no Severance or take destiny in your own hands and plan your exit if 5 in does not suit you.

Personally I was comfortable with options 1 and 2 until recently. Something has changed and I am now preparing for Option 3.
