Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

April Layoffs

Any new information or rumors? Unfortunate but we aren’t informed until long afterwards. There have been layoffs every month this year and I’m sure the trend will only continue.

Almost April, time for more manager layoffs. Who’s up this month for a transformative experience?

June 15th for the next union layoff announcements.

C-Suite will have a big bonus this year with all the reductions and cost savings, debt be damned!

Be careful upon jumping into any leadership role. The individual that hires you will not be the individual that fires you. I mean that you may receive nudges from leaders you have associated with for a very long time to jump into management, but understand their time will come to get cut or moved. This was my 16th year with T and I have never seen such a mess as my situation. I just was cut as an ARSM recently! I went through a territory change where I had a great attaining team and was moved into an "area of opportunity". There is favoritism factors, as well as factors that nobody has knowledge about. I am not placing my location because eyes look at these forums whether there is truth in them or not. My DOS placed my territory under a PIP and stated that I followed through with my responsibilities and successfully completed the plan. That individual moved into a different role and almost 30 days later I was told the plan wasn't complete to satisfaction and was walked out. Of course I could fight it as i wanted to the very day, but then asked myself is it worth it? All the crazy secrets, maniacal phone calls, 12 hour days, scare tactics? Just some simple advice to enjoy your job outside the leadership role. Craft is much safer then any role in that company. I hope my personal experience helps some of you.

An untrained seal would be a good replacement for Stankey.

Time to cut the fat, reduce long term staff and multiply layers of VP it’s ridiculous also, remove the architect of failure.

They would like to try and combine all the outside titles in one “Super Tech” while still having many layers of VP management. What does that say about VP’s competency and business use. Many outside tech titles already overlap each others scope of work.

The new CEO at Lumen would be a good replacement to run T. She came from Microsoft, is now running a telco. That experience combination is what T needs right now.

This is like survivor island and yes there will be some Union presidents voted off this year for acting in bad faith for their constituents. Wish I could say the same for some of the C-suite, starting at the top!

I agree, stay in craft and don’t expect a better job in management. The union helps craft folks but some union local presidents and stewards are siding with management too often. Either stay in the union or get out and go into management. Quit hurting the union worker who’s doing the job and only submitting grievances when required. Too many woke union presidents and stewards lately.

I honestly don’t know how anyone could possibly do a town hall rah rah session as a leader at this point…… I love Jeremy legg’s town halls they are fun, but even those seem to be getting roped in at this point……. I can tell by looking at him he’s running out of gas……. I guess one can only take the beatings for so long before you give up and decide to just do whatever to stay off the radar……that’s really where we’re at now……

Let this be a lesson to all craft employees thinking of making that leap into management. Don’t. The company has no loyalty and no class. They will hire you to fulfill that praising role tomorrow only to lay you off next week. Craft is the only place where job security is in your contract. I’ve watched too many co workers make the leap into management for a better future only to be screwed over by AT&T. I hope Stankey and the board burn in he-l for all eternity if there is one.

I don't want Stankey and the board to burn in he-l (I don't believe in that nonsense). I do hope Stankey is "retired" sooner than later. The problem is, who could replace such a visionary as Stankey? A small monkey could throw darts at a board with investment options in telecomm. ( T-Mobil/ DirecTV/ Warner Media/Cyber security/AT&T cloud/ Xander/Uverse/Digital Life/Air GiG/The LwD program/ Workforce 2020/Management deJour aka Six sigma, Lean, Msoc (made outside consultants a lot of cash).

The monkey would have had at least made honest mistakes, but they would have cost AT&T so, so much less. The target would be fiber wireline and 5G.
Remember this when you go to the town hall meetings with "leadership". Stretch your necks the night before. Stankey needs his bobbleheads.

Had the opportunity to go into management around 15 years ago, but decided I'm giving up more than I was gaining and declined the offer! Best decision I made while working in this company! Yes, bargained for is the only safe working environment to be in while employed by T! Otherwise, just come in, get some experience for your resume` then move on!

Newly promoted Director positions (DSIP, etc) in wireline engineering are on the chopping block. No longer a need with program investment cuts. SVPs in same BU on their way out but it will be called a retirement.

Have the been able to sell cybersecurity yet? That would be several positions lost.
