Honeywell Aero doesn't have much value to GE or Pratt anymore. After the failed merger, GE bought up the valuable Honeywell supply lines and technologies. Now Honeywell is lucky if it can get a single supplier to build them a fan blade. As such, when a supplier agrees to even work with Honeywell, Honeywell is forced into massive 1 time buys that results in high days of supply and low working capital.

Easier is to sell off lines one at a time to overhaul shops. Standard Aero could make a case that, in the long run, buying the AS907 assembly and part lines is cheaper that paying Honeywell for parts.

Unlikely. Enough people are still around who know why the the 2000-era merger/buyout failed, and the reason was more than just dollars. Plus, GE is only a shadow of its former self and they lack the market & financial clout they once did. It's far more likely that Northrup/Grumman or Raytheon would pursue an acquisition of HON.

GE buying Honeywell? Doesn’t make sense if they wanted to. Strategically its not compatible based on the products made and sold. Furthermore, GE after divesting ain’t going to go around buying companies so quickly without surety.

Well, GE would finally get what they always wanted. So I believe this merger could take place, what they failed at before. The CEO ego will increase. Why? What you tried to do before I actually worked this time.

They can't run it into the ground anymore than it already has been. I guess after this merger takes place our stock will be worth like $0.20. Then we will be just like GE. We will have a worthless stock.

Hon hired all the GE flunkies. It’s unlikely that GE wants to merge with any part of that.

I believe GE's spin-offs of the Medical and Energy businesses are to be complete by 2024. At which point, according to Wikipedia:

"In 2024, GE Aviation will change its name to GE Aerospace in a move executives say reflects the engine maker's intention to broaden its focus beyond aircraft engines."

The phrase "broaden it's focus beyond aircraft engines" sure sounds like it's planning to do some mergers. Honeywell makes the most sense out of the big name aerospace suppliers out there.

GE Way smaller than it used to be. Not one of the worlds biggest corporations anymore, and not nearly as dominant in them. Also selling off several businesses. Hon nit a threat to big engine businesses like P&W, would be an add on to the smaller engine portfolio, not as much of a threat. Would make sense, great deal for GE.

GE did sell off a lot of its non core businesses. They haven't sold off its main aerospace businesses. Can't see why they would want HON unless they just wanted to get rid oh HON as a supplier and just take over the products. It would be interesting how being a supplier to GE competitors would play into this.

Takes two to tango.
Ge just sold off all its businesses. Why would it become a business unit?

Honeywell is more likely to spin off than make a merger.
Perhaps it would buy into the healthcare space..

Sure as heck isnt much profit in "sustainability".

If it happens then it’s going to be just as bad if not worse. All of Honeywell’s bad behaviors come directly from GE.

Merger wasn't approved 20 years ago because of the combination of strong avionics and strong engine businesses.

If you haven't noticed, we no longer have a strong avionics business and we are not winning new engine business, especially DoD.

This time around a merger with GE could very well possible.
