Automation Testing

If automation scripts and code, we developed has full of bugs, then what tool to use to test the automated scripts. Whom has to check this and how? Where is the Automation Team Manager? Does current development manager have any knowledge on testing or automation?

All my developers are feeling low and shame to test or work on automation testing.

What kind of pathetic planning is this?

Is all in India where they only do A-Z process steps with no critical thinking or thinking outside the box. And, ChatGPT4 will just replace you anyway. Folks in India can enter data in GPT and not think about it.

I also agree with Pluralsight comment. My team is reminded weekly to take courses since is costing them money. But, since I know my team in US (Corp Risk) is slowly being replaced with folks in India, I take as many trainings as possible to beef up my resume. I'm happy letting WF foot the bill for my gaining skills for next job after layoff.

At CVS I was entering data into online screens for regression testing, first for the 'baseline' version, then for the 'changed' version, then running comparators on the output files to verify that only the expected changes occurred. I suggested that they automate the process, found a contractor who knew QTP, and we worked together to successfully complete the automation, which saved considerable time & money. Certain redundant processing you can automate, but not QA testing in general.

If the automated regression test script just enters data into screens and runs, what does that tell you - not much, except that it didn't abend, so every time you make a code change you are going to write a Java script to test it?

At Wells the QA 'automation' testers I worked with didn't know how to code the Java scripts, they just executed them... manually.

OP, go and bury your head in Pluralsight and learn Java, Selenium, and other testing tools.

It seems that you have very incompetent and untrained people on your team.
