5/5/5

Today we find out if that one poster was actually right or if he was just making it up like we all thought.

Using the term "offer" here is interpreted differently among people and thus makes for on line arguments. The company does "offer" voluntary packages periodically per applicable contracts. Said offers require individual worker acceptance to finalize deal. Arguments arise on whether the company is "offering" this or simply HAD to give it to the worker (based on the contract). Also, some view the word "offer" to imply that there's something above and beyond in the offering such as years added to age and seniority to incentivize employees to leave. I recall a 2 + 2 offered to some craft workers and a 5 + 5 offered to many managers in the 1984-85 time frame however I know of no offers as such since. Most likely those offers will not happen again other than perhaps in our dreams. The company does offer voluntary termination packages once in awhile specifically per terms of the applicable contract. The most generous one that I know of is the CWA/Leg T contract which is up to 104 pay for workers with over 31 years seniority. Receiving and accepting that VTP offer is quite an anastonishing way to retire.

All these id10t's keep talking about some "offer" that they dreamed up...

These provisions are already in the union contract with whatever company (actual company, don't just say ATT) that you work for.

NEWS FLASH !! If it's already in your contract it is already part of the agreed upon procedure,

IT'S NOT AN OFFER !!!

There will be no additional offers to occupational, if you want to see what you will receive, consult your union contract...........

Waaaaah. I'm high stepping management. Someone said 5-5-5 and I told them No way! They only get 104 weeks of pay plus their vacation. Those Union goons get health insurance in retirement as well.......

How are we doing out there with the layoffs this week? Might check back in next week. AT&T has been busy tidying up. It has been hard to keep up with because the axe has been swinging so fast and so frequently.

Haha... just because I'm lmfao@that doosh bag manager with little hands (and most likely a little tool) doesn't make me "angry" at all. In fact quite to the contrary, he has provided entertainment value for many happy and satisfied ladies. Seeing his unfortunate work situation and jealousy makes us appreciate our union jobs and now our comfortable retirement even more. We wish him luck with his tiny package however hahaha... he's still an arrogant doosh bag.

I must say, who ever posted this is a very angry and disturbed individual and quite frankly, ATT can certainly do without employees like this! She should really seek counseling from the EAP, seriously! She has very serious anger issues and anyone working around or near her should tread lightly! Glad to know she’ll be a former employee very soon!

That's not right. We high stepping managers don't get that so you should not either. We only get get 2 weeks severance. Waaaahhh.
Well, the only advise I can give as a lowly Union dreg is:
Cry to your wife about it, sell the SUV at a loss before the bank calls the repo man to hook up and tow that sh-t from your driveway, remortgage the house you couldn't afford in the first place. Oh, and the boat? It's gone too. You might keep your wife, maybe.

And yet you make it sound like a negative thing, I’m sure any laid off manager would trade with me right now. Yes Karen, we all knew that 5-5-5 wasn’t going to happen. The reason there is a nice optional severance for craft is due to a VTP or SIPP pre-negotiated between the Company and Union. No I don’t have to take it, with my seniority I could bump someone else but why would I? Close to retiring and this gets me there comfortably. I have options unlike middle/lower management that has to hit the road in 2 weeks without any company medical after 6 months, pathetic for such a large corporation. We all know the C-Suite get the fully loaded golden parachutes when they leave, so now the only ones squeezed is middle and lower management, not fair but….

Hey Nimrod, people weren't saying that there wouldn't be an offer! They were saying that there WOULD NOT be the 5/5/5 offer that some g00f kept talking about on this blog site. What you got is all that's in the contract and agreed upon by the company. You were laid off and that's what the contract calls for. You weren't given any special incentive to leave earlier than you wanted. You were forced to take the severance package laid out in the contract before your actual retirement eligibility, you were laid off!

Yes for sure it is very satisfying to accept the VTP offer and get 109 weeks pay. That's 104 weeks per CWA/Leg T contract plus my 5 weeks unused vacation. While this is not that 5 + 5 + 5 dream that someone on here keeps talking about, the VTP offered that I'm getting is quite awesome! It is rather funny how the negative people on here kept saying this VTP will never be offered but I got it. And after the 109 weeks pay runs out, I'll turn on my pension, 401k and social security while having pretty good benefits for life too. This has been a good gig thanks to the company and the union. Good luck to everyone. Peace out.

Oh to be craft again unfortunately can’t undue the mistake of taking management! Now I just have to outlast the one on my right and left.

Must be nice to have a signed union agreement with a nice severance and reasonable off payroll date, hmmm…wonder who else has that….. C-Suite maybe? But they brainwash middle management to think it’s bad for them to negotiate their own terms of service, how is that working out for you now at the middle or end of a career?

It’s the same situation in our two tiered healthcare, one for US politicians and the other for the common folks. They are looking out for your best interest, don’t you feel the love?

It appears he missed it by a mile. Big difference in 2 years pay, as per contract, and a 5-5-5 offer.

Congrats to those that got it though.

AT&T is not laying off, just moving idle employees into installation work. Not enough applicants for that job.

Today was just another uneventful day for the union personnel layoff realm of ATT! Sure, there was a mere handful of people impacted, but nothing even worth mentioning! Sounds like it was all a lot of hype for nothing! Perhaps, the next quarter will be more exciting! Like I said, ATT needs all the technicians they currently have because they're a vital part of the overall implementation for growth plan!

Dude, the impact was a very targeted layoff pretty much only in Minneapolis, MN and not much to speak of anywhere else in the country! So, go ahead and get on your high horse and shout out how prophetic you were, or in our eyes, pathetic!

Only a doosh bag would write this. You are being laughed at right now by a fun group of partying ladies.

We never claimed to predict any VTP offers for any group other than our own and we were right and you were wrong so gfy you silly pofs.

18 in Minneapolis alone and a few more scattered around. The funny part is that when I mentioned this expected package to be offered, I was called dilutional dreamer and other bad names on this forum so to those specific individuals, know that I am LOL to get the 104 weeks pay plus my 5 weeks vacation.

This is a case of "managers" crying "I don't get it so you shouldn't either". Cry, complain but leave the payroll now! Here is your 2 weeks severance. BE GONE.

Only 18 bargained for on the chopping block out of 73,000 unionized employees! I would say that's a win! That's almost immeasurable by HR standards!

It completely boggles my mind that T refuses to pole its employees nationwide to see if anyone is willing to accept a VTP rather than forcibly layoff people that would like to remain employed by T. I know of several technicians that would gladly accept a VTP if only it was offered in the western region, but it will never happen!

18 workers will likely take the VTP offer however if not, the company may layoff up to the 18 number, which means those would be forced to take the Involuntary Termination Package.

It shows they are surplusing 18 in Minneapolis. Does that mean they will surplus people if they don’t get 18 to take VTP?

Heard it was increased to 5-5-5-5!

5 FTs
5 STs
5 OPTs
5 WTs

Surplus Per WC place of reporting

I don’t see any notifications from the CWA in regards to Leg T VTP/surplus. When are they going to post it?

The person who wrote the following is incorrect or doesn't know the facts:

"No offers now or in the future. OP and any other comments to the contrary are bs’ing you. Heard it straight from HR."

There were many VTP offers today per the CWA/Leg T contract. One example, as previously posted, is that there were 18 VTP offers today to Teleconferencing Specialists (commonly known as Operators). And there were many more offers elsewhere as well.

We know exactly what VTP is and isn't. I may have been unclear trying to say that we here in Minneapolis have never said or believed there would be a 5+5+5 and we don't know who that person is. We have always just laughed at that. But we did predict and expect the VTP and we got it. Many people on this forum have said the VTP will never happen and that we are just dreamers. But 18 of us got the VTP today and we are celebrating joyously.

VTP isn’t 5+5. The 104 weeks is voluntary termination pay if you have over 30 years service.

Many of us also believed there will never be that 5+5+5 offer ever again, but as predicted and however contrary to words of many on this forum, the VTP was indeed offered per contract in Teleconferencing today to 18 Leg T operators in Minneapolis. The package is up to 104 weeks pay plus unused vacation. I will be enjoying 109 weeks pay and then my pension, 401k and benefits for life. Peace out.

He/She is just an old Legacy T technician that has been spewing this nonsense for months and months and most likely will hear nothing more than crickets, sorry to say! I sincerely wish this would come to fruition, but in reality, ATT has no reason to make any offer like this. This is not the ATT of old, this is SBC and they have an entirely different mindset! They are not at all compassionate and quite frankly, are heartless when it comes to reducing head count!
