The thing about working in a CO these days is that one has to travel regularly because most techs are responsible for multiple offices. So it’s not all gloom and doom, I see the daylight regularly and enjoy not being stuck to one office like the days of yore

Working in a CO has got to be the most depressing environment imaginable for any employee! They're dingy, very few windows if any and have an unfriendly aura! I would start looking for another job immediately if I had to report to a CO everyday!
If it is a co with business offices unused you will find out no heat or air-conditioning or working bathrooms. The lights come on and yo I will need a desk and chair, I hope yo I find a Lan connection
I think you are misguided if you believe that going to a CO is a good alternative to a real office space. Going to the central office is a joke unless it’s a large one. Most around me are medium to small in size without any desk or chairs except in the CO ET’s quiet room which are usually occupied. CRE and CO managers cleared out a lot of the surplus office items after reducing CO employees, most of what is left wouldn’t get picked up by anyone if you left it on the street with a free sign on them.
The WiFi and VPN is also unreliable in a lot of CO’s for obvious reasons and you are lucky if there are any lan cables connected, speeds are slow too. It’s also very noisy due to all the fans running, the newer fiber equipment requires a lot of ventilation due to the heat they produce.
Drive downtown to the main att central office. Plenty of empty desks there.
You must live in the land that AT&T forgot with that much real estate available. They sold off or haven’t resigned leases in our area. Pull up a conference chair and welcome to the bedlam.

My manager sent an occupancy notification, said site is full but I could use the 3rd stall in the restroom for our collab zone or did he say colonoscopy? Anyways it’s all gone to sh$t so suck it up diaper dandies it’s March Madness!!

We were told that the changes in webphone would be coming. It's pretty clear that they didn't think the plans for return to office through. Some of the zones now have very limited space available and cannot accommodate very many people returning. Also, in some zones, some teams seem to be "reserving" places, leaving those not on those teams with few options of where to sit. In my area, at least, the collaboration zones don't have offices, but long tables, so you have to have conference calls with your actual teammates who might be thousands of miles away out in the open. Very difficult to concentrate and also quite disturbing to others. I keep thinking back to Legg's town hall where he said he was getting "mad" about people not returning. Well- it makes me mad that they did nothing to create an actual environment where true collaboration can take place. Instead, he upset people with his threatening comments (we will be keeping track of you!). I know that there will be a lot of down votes on this, but honestly, this is not how to get high productivity. If they want people actually in offices - even though they don't need to be to do their jobs well- they need to create an environment which fosters collaboration and productivity. And having a limited number of spaces where employees have to play musical chairs to even find a spot - and those chairs are out in the open where you can't really concentrate or collaborate- well, that's not going to get the results that they are hoping for. I know nobody is forcing me to stay here, and for personal reasons, I am not actively looking (yet) and I do plan to make my best effort to do a good job since that is at the core of my pesonal value system. However, I would not be upset at all about being chosen as a layoff participant.
