Good To Great

Book by Jim Collins. If you know, you know.. Somehow, seemingly NOT ONE of our “leaders” have read the book, or understand, or care to understand the importance of ‘Getting the right people on the Bus’. To me, this is a direct acknowledgment that T is nothing more than a stock or commodity, with no real interest in being a competitive and top performing company. Settling for financial position, dividends, and gains is their game and none of us should expect anything more. We are all an operating expense that can be reduced when needed.

‘Getting the right people on the Bus’
T has its own spin on this… ‘Throwing people under the bus”. It has been a culture pillar since SBC took over, the punitive approach is in their DNA.

There was a massive shift a few years ago, but I feel it in everything I do now. We used to actually try and grow the business, blow out the metrics, but now we just go through the motions and most above us could care less what we do. We are just keeping the machine running. A lot of people have picked up on that, and act accordingly; some are still deluded in thinking what they do actually matters. As long as the machine is running, they don’t care. Do your 8 (or less if you can get away with it), collect your check and go home. If you can find something better that pays more, go do that. Be market based.

T is nothing more than a commodity stock now, using technology that is fast becoming outdated.
