Chevron keeps average players. To compare Chevron to a real company almost made me fall off my chair. You are a minor league company at best ....comparing the business practices of blue chip companies. You are fortunate that Chevron has no spine to do what is necessary to right the ship. Management mistakes will catch up. You will wish you were somewhere else....

We’re all told at one point that we can no longer play the Chevron game. Some of us are told at PSG22… some of us are told at PSG28… but we’re all told.
@OP As a life long slacker, I find your words extremely insulting and outrageous. I worked hard at doing very little yet still managed to stay on the payroll for years. Go pick on another Company you brute!
@db
Many are 1st level and 2nd level managers that have lost their tech skills and don't have the management skills to advance upward. I am surprised at the number of low level LT that are out of touch with current technical issues and are in positions of decision making. I believe this is one of Chevron's organizational failures ands a contraint that limits the success of teh reorganization. It is funny to me the management consultants that have been brought in do not know this either. this must be a "Group Think" problem ;)
@OP
You sound bitter but I understand that is common feeling forced upon the many minions that don’t get a chance to contribute. I have felt that way at times while working at Chevron. Don’t let it control you, we are all actually better than what the management wants us to believe. There are a lot of good employees but the LT has a difficult time getting the employees a chance to contribute. I am just glad I am closer to retirement than a mid career worker. The early and mid career workers are in a bad position. The USA based workforce is a thing of the past.
@a5
Your description makes me imagine a break room full of T-Rex’s. You make me laugh.
OP is at CVX so there may be some truth to his claim. Incompetent clowns are always laughing, blaming others and falling off their chairs.
Meh. I have worked with many of our Partners which are a mix of mids and majors including XOM. They are similar - mix of great, good, and incompetent.
I agree. Treat it like the minor leagues then. Get your resume perfect then move on. Imagine spending your whole life in Houston, Midland, or Bakersfield. Lol bunch of fat men with skinny legs and arms talking about the big game on the weekend.
Everytime I am in a room of fat men talking about the NFL , I check my watch and walk away.
There are some excellent individual contributors, but the majority are mediocre at best and leadership levels are bloated and much worse than average.
