The market is terrible right now. Companies are lowballing skilled workers because they know people are desperate. I hate this place, but at least I have a job.

The petroleum geoscience job market is dead and will likely never recover here in the US. The few jobs that get posted are just for internal shuffling using the good-old-boy system or hiring a dime a dozen talent in India.
Many overseas recruiters lowered their standards to hire Indians. I saw an ad for recruiting that said 150 days on, 43 days off. No HC10 should apply. Probably pays $200 per day.

Results vary. Never hurts to be looking.
