Thread regarding MetLife Inc. layoffs

A little data collection...

Feel free to contribute. Just give a simple answer to the question. I'm trying to see if there's a trend.

For those of you laid of from ML, say whether or not you ended up in a better or worse employment situation afterwards.

@wb OP Here. Not HR. Former employee who was laid off in the past who came back around here out of curiosity to just see how people ended up afterwards. That's it.

Why do you care HR? Those of us still stuck here are truly wishing you'd just cut the umbilical cord and let the rest of us go. No that won't happen with su-k up management who are too busy kissing up to leadership and protecting their overinflated egos. Some have been lucky to get out.

@pz yea the severance is good. They made sure so I wouldn’t sue them for bullying, harassment and retaliation. I had all my calls recorded. lol

Honestly it wasn’t offshore failure it was leadership failure thinking I could train them in my 15 years of knowledge and magically make them set production records like me in only a few months of training.lol they first tried AI but Microsoft said there’s no way they could even help let alone due it because of the disparate and varied skill sets needed which at the time only 3 of us had, they let all of go over a year, I was the last as I was doing 80-90% of the work and setting production records. Plus the had to wait for my retaliation complaint to resolve. .

@nw Wow. Nice. Why am I not surprised the crew offshore that takes 123123 holidays per year and mumbles their way through meetings couldn't figure it out?

Adding my answer:

Better. Took 2.5 months for new opportunity, 15%+ pay increase, better team (all native English speakers--sorry, it makes a big difference), more interesting job, more PTO, better retirement benefit.

Lived off my savings for about 3 months, or whatever that equivalent was of the severance, depending on how you want to count it. Banked the severance.

To Met's credit, the severance was pretty generous.

Better. Took 4-5 months, 8% bump in pay, nice people, much easier job, even more PTO and best part is never touched my severance lol so got that nice bonus to leave met and another added bonus is they are struggling without me and have had to hire 6-7 people onshore and off shore trying to match my production. lol
