Or, to rephrase that, can you ask to be considered for a different role instead of taking the severance? And if nothing is available, then accept the severance instead?

I was part of a RIF a few years ago. I was able to secure a new internal position - I took a demotion and I needed significant VP backing but at the time, I was desperate to stay due to personal stuff. Fast forward - I’ve since left the company for a new opportunity and as others have stated - there IS life after Verizon and it’s awesome. Good luck to all
You can, but good luck in a 30-day notice state. At least a week posted, 2 weeks to schedule interviews, and a week to make a decision.
This doesn’t include multiple interviews or postings that stay open longer than a week…
WHY would you want to?!? Take the money and RUN!
Why would you stay in any relationship when the other party has indicated that they no longer value you???
Why would they hire anyone back ? Really....
If you been with the company 10 plus years, it’s a no-brainer to take the severance and find a new job! That’s what I did in November. It su-ks and is scary but it’s a big world out there and verizon at least has a good reputation among employers from a talent perspective.
Yes - but not sure if anything is available you want.
would have to accept it by your end date (likely 8/15)
the chances of everything happening in less than 30 days is tight as the reqs average 60 days
@OP yes you can, even if you’ve signed the severance agreement. I was impacted in May and was able to apply for and accept another role two days before the off payroll date. Good luck!
You can reapply after 6 months. But why would you want to
