Dan is just doing what the shareholders want, and he’s okay with the criticism. He knows he’s going to be the scapegoat, hence why he only signed an 18-month deal. Getting paid the big bucks to take the blame. Cutting all these employees will bump the stock up and make it look like they had a good quarter. At the end of the day, people’s lives are just a game.

@b8 What are you even talking about? Verizon was NEVER listed on the NASDAQ.
It has always been on the NYSE... ever since Bell Atlantic & NYNEX were spun out of AT&T. The only thing that changed is being replaced by GOOL in the Dow30 (DJI) big deal
Anybody with half a brain saw that coming they have been replacing all the companies with 2-digit stock prices for the last 5+ yrs.... There might be 2 or 3 left, now that VZ is out, Nearly every stock left in that index are now growth stock with share prices $100+. The days of them wanting DIV stocks in that index are long gone.
That said.. yes Dan is bad... he gets credited with expanding PayPal when all he did was sit in the chair, while paypal took off when everyone was locked in their house during covid, because it was a legacy platform many people were already using to pay people they didn't know over the internet thanks to it's ebay days. As soon as the whole covid mess was put to bed at people got out of their houses again the price crashed and he was guided out the door... And god knows why... but Han's the destroyer looked at that Dan's $300 to $60 PYPL stock performance and said... "He's our Man!!"
@ak you said it like blocking te------t in Gaza is a bad thing
@a8 Bag holder detected. The stock is back to levels before Dan took over. Layoffs will cause a slight bump then it will go back down. Delisted from NASDAQ. You might as well sell and cut your losses.
Dan is a joke, a highly paid dou--e with an MBA degree with absolutely no vision, strategy and credibility at this point
Any comparisons with Bezos or Musk are absolutely ridiculous. Those guys have bachelor degrees (Bezos EE/CS from Stanford, Musk BA in physics) and went to build their own companies following their visions. They were BUILDERS.
Dan is a sad miserable bean counter, an antithesis of a visionary CEO. His legacy will be a scorched land.
Google what he did in the middle east when he was at PayPal he was blocking a certain people from money etc
@a8 How is that going for you? Did you check the NASDAQ index, do you see Verizon on it? Dan did that, nobody takes him serious as a leader, why would they the guy is so shallow he use AI to write poems to his wife. What a shallow man he is.
When Dan was talking at Davos about AI replacing people he was saying it was coming soon, unlike other leaders who think AI can make people more effective (fax, email, etc). Dan is looking to simply replace people with AI, which where it is used today is awful it took me 30 minutes of AI refusing to make a change on my account before it would let me chat with a human being. He has no problem spending a billion on wireline in Europe, and firing people to pay for his wild a-s goose chase for relevance. Hans was an awful leader, Dan is just a bold face liar. Dan said he would put the customer first, but every cut he has made has left customers with systems that work worse than when he started. His employees are left with no support, IT tickets used to take 7-10 days to get resolved, now they don't even get looked at for 2 weeks. Verizon is tanking for the world to see.
@a8 I am a shareholder too. Like any other shareholder, I care about generating revenue. Increasing customer counts and making the network reliable. I have not see any of these during Dan's tenure. Where did this BS idea of firing people will increase share price come from? Share price is as low as it was before Dan.
I am a shareholder and only care about stock price. Cut, cut away.
@a5 One of the most toxic cultures in VZ is the kingdoms in silos. These leaders who are taking decisions on who will get fired give priority to loyalty over competence and work ethics. The company can never change until they fire these leaders. Unfortunately, they are still running the show. From the board to the field techs, there are only kingdoms and no teams.
When is Dan’s tenure ending next year?
@a2 You are 100% correct. Directionalist Dan is just that. Before you know it he will be gone and you will be looking back and saying WTF happened. He will destroy everything in his path and will not lose a minute of sleep over. That's all he is, a POS.
Leaders get the money they get because they can see the future. Everyone will see it at some point. But visionary leaders can see it ahead of most people. They can influence, engage and inspire people to take the path they see as the future. When people like Bezos and Musk say that AI will make people more productive and in the long run will actually increase jobs in new areas, Dan said unemployment will hit 30%. That is going back to 1930's. In the history of humanity technology has never reduced the jobs, it made people more productive and created jobs in few areas.
Has anyone seen a strategy that will increase customers and improve network? I have not.
