Now if the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result, well, that Manager’s answer is insane.

@1mz I agree with what you said with just one nuance.

Because creating things in new generational AI is so expensive (e.g, AI tokens, etc.), a hybrid approach is necessary, where waterfall approach is at least needed in the first stages to get tje data prepared that was created on legacy systems so as to avoid hallucinations later on. Then, once the data is relatively clean, the approach can be moved to agile.

Other than that one minor nuance, where you were a bit critical about waterfall approach being used, I totally agree with everything you had said.

Now, if you were saying that they are using waterfall approach not just for the early data preparing stage but rather throughout the entire AI build, well, then yes, that is wasteful.

If you ever see Rotter's emails to his team, they are full of the most criminogenic, toxic bs. He yells at his team for estimating software builds too high, so they revise their estimates down, go overbudget, and then point the finger at their business sponsors for "missed requirements." DPAIO has regular, multi-hour meetings with dozens of SVP and VP folks to discuss what to present to him, even though they functionally own nothing except the credit and responsibility for status updates. I've never seen a tech organization more fixated on doing waterfall, and in doing it the most resource-intensive way possible. Lies about the state of our tech org have compounded and they are burning money at a rate I've never seen (and I've worked at 2 of the other largest payers). To be clear, it is GB's fault for not being smart enough to smell his bs. They're all cut from the same sh-t-soaked cloth.

This is just more corruption helping the corrupt.
