So 1 person from my team and another from an adjacent have been laid off. Both were high performers.
We also got some new guy from Sofi who seems to be big on downsizing based on individual contribution. Apparently he's making people give adhoc presentations. This makes me wonder if it's a test to see who has the abilities to contribute individually...

Amex does not publicly announce layoffs due to the defense of their brand. But I wouldn't be surprised if it tows the banking line and decides to copy mass layoffs for the company. Starting with fully remote folks because of the arrogance of their senior leaders in their unwavering belief that everyone needs to be at the office to get things done. Instead of actually paying folks more and ending deadweights who contribute nothing but warm seats and turn on microwaves.
I saw a director in finance post on LinkedIn about being lay off. He worked remote, so not sure if they are pushing to kick people out that are not in one of their main hubs.
