I'm almost hoping I get cut while the package is still decent. I've heard stories about companies giving almost nothing. Could that happen here?

Expect nothing, be grateful if you get something. But also, severance is a company saying, “please don’t sue us for letting you go.” If you’re a high performer and TDC is still in business, you’ll most likely get something. If TDC files for bankruptcy and then lets you go, you stayed too long
