@2m1 lol. Our team hired for 5 data scientist, 3 new, 2 from Optum AI all based out of India. They are NOT data scientists. They can't even understand simply Data, what it means of what models to use for what. They are just using copilot n spin up junk documents and spreadsheets. Absolute non nonsense

@1jf same with our team on Optum Insights. They hired 3 junk data scientist who don't know sh-t.. probably faked their way into getting this job as they can't do anything correctly

@1je same in my time. They brought in 5 new junior offshore FTE engineers to do one simple project that will take probably couple months for one quality engineer (me) and now I waste time teaching them everything. We dont have enough work once this is done and guess what i will be the one laid off some I am onshore and cost more. It's the management s fault for allowing this type of poor hiring decisions.

@1j1 this is RIDICULOUS! quality is suffering, timings don't work, lot of people for small tasks creating more confusion instead and lower productivity. I rather use AI and get it done correctly instead of explaining offshore what needs to be done, wait a day, and reexplain, review, correct... It's a matter of time executives are going to realize offshore is just becoming a cost center and it's better invested on quality onshore engineers.

@1aw hmm. June "rumors" were all mostly true. I know several people that got laid off. I know I am next because I barely dodged the bullet and I have no new work, abd my manager has cancelled all out team meetings and totally gone MIA.

There's a lot of speculation circulating right now about a "massive Q3 layoff," but so far, nearly every post in this thread is based on anonymous claims, secondhand conversations, or "I heard from someone" reports. That's not the same as confirmed information.

It's understandable that people are anxious during periods of organizational change, but rumors can quickly create unnecessary fear—especially when they're repeated as fact without evidence.

A few reminders:

Anonymous forum posts are not official communications.
Claims of "confirmed" layoffs without documentation should be treated with caution.
Reorganizations, team name changes, and offshoring discussions do not automatically mean widespread layoffs.
If there are workforce changes that require notification, the company will communicate through official channels to affected employees.

Rather than amplifying rumors, let's focus on sharing verifiable information and supporting each other. If someone has confirmed information from an official company announcement, that's different. Until then, speculation only adds to the uncertainty.

Stay informed, but don't mistake anonymous posts for facts.

@gg To be fair..you say they were being ridiculous with their rationale of warning other from replying, yet I see you yourself didn’t fill in all of the blanks when providing your own.

I've provided the requested information list below so you don't have to scroll. Be confident & say it with your full chest this time:

Include department/team/told/GL name whenever possible please

@n0 why so many down votes.. he's clearly saying in a sarcastic manner only toxic people make it here which is 100% true. He might be one of them but he's saying the absolute truth

Optum hasn't paid bonuses to most frontline staff for the past few years. If you received a bonus last year, consider yourself one of the lucky and privileged few. Many frontline employees have seen little or no bonus despite their hard work and contributions.

I just want to throw it out there that “this” has been going on non-stop since last
October. We’ve just entered our 3rd qtr of significant down-sizing, reorganizing and monthly lay- offs. I don’t see anything changing and really calming down until 2027. Hang in there everyone.

Don't fall for this, people.

It's "leadership" trying to out you, if you give this info. they requested:
"Try and include department/team/told/GL name whenever possible please

They are all over this board today, trying to do damage control.
They've copy/pasted this lame phrase, combining faux placating the masses with a feigned not so veiled threat ("leadership holds all the cards") in about a dozen different threads so far today, within the Centene section of this site!

  • Honestly, no one knows what leadership will do, and they hold all the cards. Speculating on every rumor isn't going to change the outcome. In the end, it boils down to two options: accept the Voluntary Separation Program (VSP) or risk an involuntary layoff. It’s a financial decision for the company, not a personal one. My best advice is to stop stressing over the noise and focus on preparing for whichever scenario comes your way.*
