Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I Miss AT&T Already

I can’t believe it’s really over. I would gladly work In the office full time again if it meant I could keep my job. AT&T was such a big part of my life. I feel so lost.

I miss the constant re-orgs, relocating and beatdowns.

I can get it, but OP, you’re going to be just fine. 6 months, 1 year from now, you’ll laugh at your post and realize it was one of the best things that ever happened to you. It’s tough now if this is all you’ve known for the past 20-30+ years, you don’t know what’s out there. Take that pension retirement, that severance and enjoy yourself. If you still want to work, go find another job. There are so many people here that are just scared to leave. Go find who you are, you are not your job.

Hoping this isn’t a troll post. If you were impacted, all I can say is that it has nothing to do you with your performance or anything personally. Take a few days to decide what you want to do with your remaining work years. Spend some time with a trusted friend or mentor to decide next steps career-wise. Create a budget if you haven’t already. Cut down on nonessentials until your next steady paycheck.
Next, work with T resources to create resume, cover letter, interview techniques. Get up everyday and work on yourself: training, job hunting, physical and mental wellbeing. Looking for a job and self care will be a full time job. It will create a rhythm and schedule in your life that you will appreciate. Spend time with family and friends in the evenings. Enjoy the good weather & simpler things in life. Stay positive and optimistic.

Keep your family close, and assure them that you’ll find a way: because.you.will.

Th best part of your life is now and ahead of you. The company, mission and people in charge are not what the company was. The companies a balance sheet, bleeding workers to balance the sheet of years of pathetic investments.
Don’t look back.
