Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

What's up with the disclaimer in the offers that says "this is an estimate and can change"? How would it change?

Is anyone else questioning the legitimacy of things we've been told about the VSP or our future here? I mean, with all the intentional ambiguity and gaslighting, I don't trust anything or anyone anymore.

What's up with the disclaimer in the offers that says "this is an estimate and can change"? How would it change? Hopefully, people aren't making decisions based on the numbers provided, only to find a significant gap when the money is dispersed.

I calculated mine using how they described their calculations (it’s in the info they provided) and it was right on the money. They are saying “tentatively” the last day is around Sept 1 so if you stay longer or go earlier the figures could be different.

It's for them to legally CYA, rather than to fu*k you over.

They don't want to commit to an exact amount down to the penny, in case there's something slightly deviating from that, but the amount you've been quoted is pretty much spot-on to what you'll get, if approved for the VSP.

You've got to look at this as a crossroads, in an overview of your career's trajectory as a whole, rather than being petty about granular specifics, wringing your hands over a potential few or even hundreds of dollars' difference, with the VSP amount.

Ask yourself: "Does this deal they're offering me IN GENERAL make sense for me at this time in my life?" Instead of: "I STG, if they sc--w me over for even ONE DIME, I'm gonna sue!!!"

This is FREE MONEY that they are GIVING you, without you having to work for it!
Just take it (you've been given a quote of how much it will be, which is more than likely not going to change) and just be grateful, and free to go on with your life!

@OP this is the reason I won’t accept it and another coworker won’t either. The law is disclosure at signing and we don’t have it. To me they are setting themselves up for lawsuits. I don’t understand why their legal team woth approve this sh-t

my thoughts are the VSP offers are budgeted with our current pay up until Sept 1.

if for some reason, the business needs to keep you longer than Sept 1, you would still get paid for time worked. I believe that time worked might be deducted from the offer. basically if you stay two extra weeks, you lose those two weeks of the VSP.

those who are bonus eligible have a prorated rate for the months worked in their VSP. I’m curious if additional time worked would be honored and if that amount would increase. wishful thinking, I know. it’s early in the am, but I believe the overall VSP package would be lower in this case so I don’t see why not.

@OP My guess is they used AI to run a rough estimate in order to roll it out quickly and when they decide who gets accepted, an actual human will look at your salary & years of service and will offer you half 😉

It means that it could change at tjeir discretion.

Get you to accept at a certain “suggested” amount and then when you have “legally” accepted, they make use of their protective clause and change the amount for lower. It’s called bait and switch.
