The strategy is clearly to create as many joint ventures and divest as much employees and operations as possible, while being passive owners of these ventures to collect a share of the profits. This is exactly what we saw with TW and DTV.

AT&T just wants to be a holding company. I wouldn't be shocked if the target is under 100k employees. We had 280K just a few years ago, we've shed almost half of that number.

The real question is how many employee's do they need based on current business model and operating model.

I usually get the info from a 8-K earnings release on Edgar
https://www.sec.gov/edgar/searchedgar/companysearch
Lets see what we got here.
https://www.sec.gov/edgar/browse/?CIK=732717&owner=exclude
I see an 8-K - I'll check out the "AT&T Inc. selected financial statements and operating data"
I see Total Employees 169,880
Unfortunately, it does not show the number of contractors so that we can get a picture of total payroll expenses.

Lots of ways to get this data, looking at the Amplify org chart shows employee only counts, rolling all the way up to Stankey. You can always query against webphone omitting contractors. Or, if you have access to our Palantir subscription you can craft a report there.

If all else fails you can look up quarterly data on our investor relations page. That stuff gets shared with the feds and wall street, it isn't going anywhere.

Of course, WebPhone is accurate up to the minute you leave, then all your systems access is removed. I frequently run queries for total head count, by my EVP organization (you get totals by active, contractor, and on LOA). Very ez.

"Money for nothing" basically has been the mantra for the last 2 years and I couldn't love it more! I hope I'm able to keep my job for at least the next 3-5 years!
