Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

How much do you care about this job here?

I don't believe those who say they don't care if they will be cut or not, and I especially don't believe those who say they can't wait to be paid to leave. It looks like no one cares about saving their job here anymore, and that can't be true.

I used to care. I was once under the impression that this work was important, our customers were truly our first priority, and leadership would recognize excellence. I have been a top performer for over ten years and have reached the conclusion that no promotion or real recognition is ever coming. The only thing 'top performer' status gets you is another 1-3% annually. My level of care for them now matches the same level of care they have shown me.

I do what I have to so I don’t let down my teammates and those depending on me. I’m former military so that’s just ingrained in my dna. Other than that, nah I’m good. Been there done that, didn’t even get a T shirt or mug for the effort. Won’t do that again. I was the top performer for years, that got me nowhere. Too valuable to production. Now I do what I have to and nothing else.

I gaze out the window of the downtown tower I work in and I just don't see one F flying around out there that I'd give for my job. I'm merely hanging out waiting for the inevitable package coming 3/15. And I'm not the only one.

OP, they could be telling the truth. If you look at the max views a post gets on this board it indicates there are very few people on it. Some of those are not employees. With that info it is possible there is a small number of folks who no longe4 care.

Not much at all, other than the paycheck. The company doesn’t care about it employees or customers, so there’s not much reason to care about the company.

You won’t find me caring at all. In fact , I do my best to make the company go broke paying me OT. It’s leadership’s job to care. It’s my job to do my job and get paid. Nothing else. The company owes me nothing beyond a paycheck and some benefits. I owe them nothing beyond performing tasks assigned. Caring ? I’m cracking up.

Flip the question , what does caring get you? Job security? Nope? Appreciation in the form or raises or bonuses? Nope , any kind of corporate reciprocation, not likely.. now T isn't t the only company...this is typical corporate America...

If Randell and Stankey can cost the company Hundreds of Billions, I don't think I can do much damage. As a matter of fact, 10 thousand of like minded persons as myself could not inflict the damage to the company as "leadership" has done. Yet there he is in his PJs. Randell with his 270K a month pension, and since we didn't get enough of his "wise guidance" we continue to pay Randell a cool one million a year for consulting.

Not that much. I received an unsolicited offer this morning from another employer. Unfortunately, until I have my pension I’m not leaving.
The company should just buy us out. We aren’t leaving without the pension and we won’t be providing high marks for all the id--tic decisions. 2023 will be a repeat of 2022 fro a performance perspective, which means the stock isn’t moving.

I don't think it's necessarily that people don't care. I think it is because people are just tired. After so many years of dodging layoffs and stressing out about jobs stability you just become apathetic.

You get numb enough and you really do start to realize that it's wasted energy one way or the other and so you just stop caring. It doesn't mean you do a cr---y job or anything, you just give up worrying about it and go day to day.
