Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Are people avoiding Oracle these days?

We've been trying to fill a role for months, and we've gotten almost no qualified applicants. It almost feels like qualified people have heard the stories, know what it's like here, and are staying away as a result. We desperately need help, but I don't think we'll get it anytime soon.

@ax not sure I’m understanding your comment about f*cked up Americans? What on earth does that have to do with the situation at hand. The rest of your commentary I believe a spot on but your opening statement not really appropriate or accurate. You seem to forget this is an international company so it’s not just the Americans here. We had plenty of other leaders at the executive level making these decisions that are affecting the entire company worldwide.

@OP seems to Me as though Oracle’s strategy is for everything to be outsourced so that they can dump SaaS and consulting services anyway. So those of us laid off are now available via contracted services by Oracle 3td party partners…. So why are you trying to hire anyway???

@cf I'm curious in what country are they looking to hire these Netsuite sales people?

Netsuite GBU RIF’d so many sales reps. Sales teams were absolutely sla-ghtered with layoffs - lo and behold, today there are multiple sales rep job positions available for Netsuite today

🤦‍♂️

@b0 If rif'd can't be rehired, it would help if they'd TELL us. I've been applying, as well as other former employees I know. Someone emailed HR and asked if rifs can't be rehired and they wrote him back saying "no idea, we aren't involved in hiring." Yeah, ok.

I was one of the RIF'ed person. Even though I am in desperate need of job, I am thinking twice on Oracle. Yes its true that Oracle doesn't consider RIF'ed candidates. Thats OK.
I am seeing true market outside. I am not even able to project my Oracle work in this competitive market for a job. I was working in Microservices with pure Jax-rs with Oracle cloud technologies. No one is looking at these. The market outside is completely different.
On the other hand, people who got laid off from Meta, Amazon and other top tier companies got good pay, severance and health benefits upto 18 months after their layoff. Oracle is so poor that it didn't paid us well while we were at job, no promotions, no hikes. It forfeited my stocks, my severance was very low and just 1 month of health benefits.
you end up in poor man's hut after your layoff with very little balance in your bank accounts. I was litterally living hand-to-mouth with Oracle but was continuing my job because of longevity. but Oracle has broken the trust. Any Job is vulnerable now. Why should I return to Oracle ?

Probably avoiding like the plague unless absolutely desperate.

Multiple years of no pay raises and annual job cuts will put most off.

I have told three people who reached out to me on LinkedIn for positions at Oracle: do not apply to this company.

@av exactly! The 20K+ are no longer qualified due to their salary requirements.

I find this comment you make about not being able to find qualified candidates for Oracle infuriating. 21,000 of us were laid off all highly qualified and have been trying to reapply to open positions but are ignored. There are rumors out there on the street that rift employees are not re-hireable. So if that is the case, Oracle is shooting itself in the foot.. it makes no sense whatsoever that you’re complaining about not being able to find qualified candidates when you have plenty to choose from that are wanting to return to Oracle. But are ignored or what feels like being blacklisted.

@ac Americans ...with their self entitled arrogant attitudes and messed up education....why bother ,so you can hire them and they'll backstab you to get that extra $200 raise with a VP title....laughable. Looks like everyone loves Oracle crumbs except the new CFO, she gets her plate full while they lay off others under the pretense that AI will fill the gaps, but oh, they forgot that AI had to actually be fully implemented and understood to work so in the meantime let Ellison su-k up your water and drive your utility bills sky high so you'll end up begging for whatever jobs are left.

You could reach out to people that Oracle laid off and hope they have got over how they were let go. You'll easily find them on LinkedIn. Do not trust AI and automated systems to screen candidates correctly for you.

OCI does not have brand value. Most jobs ask for AWS or GCP expertise, and sometimes Azure. So, you'll not be able to easily attract anyone who has not worked at Oracle before.

Are there no qualified applicants applying? Or is the screening software rejecting them? What role is this for? I was with O for more than 25 years and filled a number of different roles there over the years. Of course if you're looking for a developer, then never mind. 🤣

I've been applying for AMER jobs THAT I HAVE YEARS OF EXPERIENCE DOING, and rejected every time. Could what you are seeing be self-inflicted in some way?

[x] Doubt

With current job market you can fill any position. And it's the same corporate cr-p in every single other company as well.
