Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

New CFO | We are F’d

Have you guys looked at his history past where he’s worked? Do a quick ChatGPT/Gemini search on his roles at his previous corps. People talking about PE in the other thread. No need. This guy will do the same they’d do, without selling out. His specialty is corporate restructuring and cost efficiency. Get ready everyone. They didn’t bring in an outsider for nothing. I bet you MF was unwilling to do what EH and the board wants. I think they see that EH approval rating is declining, so bring in someone else to be the bad guy. Homeboy doesn’t care. He’s probably on his way out of his career.

What we really need is for PK to release his death hold on Nike so that things can actually change.

@c4 this is very true of most of the ELT not just creative. Company is lacking talent all over.

Until EH looks to replace his product creation leaders, PM (and CW, JJ), we’re going to continue to slide. We don’t have the caliber of leaders we need to turn this around, and PM’s product creation org is where you have to start. PM, himself, is in very far over his head. Just chasing his tail and not ready for the role EH put him in. It’s sad, as EH is great, but poor identification of exec talent is torpedoing his turn around.

It is well known that every time a new VP/CTO/CFO/whatever senior leader comes in, they bring their own vision, and changes will be made to implement it. Nike has been laying off employees every few months; nothing new here. The only thing that needs to change is that we need to be proactive and keep looking for work at all times, as you never know when your time is coming up at Nike. As Nike is no longer loyal to you, nothing stops you from looking for work and looking out for yourself and your family. If any kind of manager or superior at Nike tells you that you are in the wrong for looking out for yourself and your family by keeping your resume up to date and applying for work, then they are delusional and should not be employed.

This is about the d-mbest take I have seen on this site. Must be MF typing. MF unwilling? He put the company in the hole that it is in. The only thing he was unwilling to do was develop people in finance or learn accounting rules. The guy didnt have an MBA or a CPA and was CFO.

@ad He also has worked for Lowes, so that covers the consumer product side. I did my research as well, and he does appear to be a "scaler" and it's obvious Nike is using this transition to move the image away from "turnaround mode" to "rebuild mode" as that is his stated strategic focus. Marketing speak around C levels of large cap companies is about as trustworthy as late night television infomercials though, so who knows.
