Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Feeling very anxious about the August layoffs as a new college grad

I interned at Centene last summer into the fall which was my last semester of university. Feels like the entire world is unstable. I don't qualify for the VSP, but feeling so so anxious and depressed about the layoffs coming in August. I just started my career. However, I've been working to the bone for this company so far (I work in IT). I know most of you guys on this website are older and have much greater responsibilities (kids, mortgage, etc), but I can't help but feel like things are doomed.

@OP I understand being a new grad and working in IT there should be jobs out there but your stress and all of us are potential lay offs coming in august. I have not been here but a few years abs I am not young anymore but my advice to myself is the universe will provide.

millennial here (34 yo) and I totally understand. your feelings are accurate, the world is unstable, but the world has always had issues since the beginning of time.

this current timeline is very chaotic and my Gen X parents are in shock over it. the next few years will be rocky (to put it lightly) as there is entirely too much going on. my husband and I are on the fence about bringing a child into this world... we are finally at a place where we are financially stable, we bought a house, we chose a community with the best schools, and now public education is being dismantled, AI is on the rise to take our jobs (and depleting fresh water), I could go on...

with that said, focus on controlling what you can. build community in your area. find things that bring you joy. the powers at be want us to be miserable and we cannot let them win. it is very easy to spiral into a negative headspace and then stay there for too long.

best of luck to you.
