So I’m a converged service rep in Amarillo and have to work in the office 5 days a week. My friend in Lubbock who is in the same department as me but under a different center manager got a surplus and was offered to keep their same job and wfh full time. How is it fair that we do the same work but I have to keep reporting to the office? What’s the reason for us not being able to work from home?

@OP Your colleague gets to work from home because they are closing the call center. This week alone, Lubbock, Little Rock, Lafayette, Ocean Springs, and Cedartown were all given the same closure notification. The bargained for population will be have to be offered an available job, while the management will either be told to relocate or take a surplus.
For years, since WFH has been a thing, that job offer has been to take calls WFH. It’s a baked in guarantee in the Mobility Orange contract this time around. But, that’s the only way someone gets an opportunity to WFH now, as the company is no longer actively hiring Union WFH positions - only full brick-and-mortar or hybrid. So, unless something drastically changes, your only opportunity to WFH will be if the company closes your call center.
@b9 the cry babies are entitled to freebies, they deserve WFH
"Lots of new grads salivating to take your place!!!!!"
LOL -- Lots of grads are starting jobs, but lots of grads are quitting jobs. Almost 100% of the LDP hires from 2025 have quit. What does that say about AT&T's "glorious" culture and work environment. GFYS
You are not worthy to WFH. In fact almost all employees need to be RTO.
You are the principal SME and best practices consultant on cuckery and bootlicking. Stop lying. You aren't nearly intelligent enough to pull it off.
@b7 hopefully they will monitor time working more closely. Getting paid to go to your hobbies ? Did you disclose you do this ?
You have delved deeply enough into the enterprise-level data, to come to that firm conclusion? I'm afraid I'm gonna have to ask you to show your work here. You aren't just fa----g out of your mouth again, are you?
And, just for arguments sake, let's say you are right. Everyone WFH is running buck wild doing their own thing.
What does that say about your precious "leadership"? Not a one of them able to performance manage, establish accountability, or enforce expectations unless directly in-person?
No wonder you cling so desperately to them. They are every bit as incompetent as you are. Kindred spirits and all...
Any openings alongside you in the Corporate Cuck department?

Better then those layers of polish and varnish caked on your teeth.
Shoot that lock off your wallet and spend those big bucks on some cosmetic dental procedures before it's too late!
@b6 end soon? Do you even work here? Obviously not, must be a troll from the VZ board. It’s been 5X RTO for 3 years. Nobody is doing any of this or WFH anymore. Maybe that’s what you do over on the red team. Not good for you.
However, there will be golf tennis and pickleball at the new Plano HQ. So I cannot wait to go back to doing all these things while getting credit for being in the office. Thanks 4 tha cheese! Cuck
@aw they're right. You don't really work. Emails and powerpoint aren't jobs. AI can do that. The bragging that you're watching Netflix, at Target, golfing. Thats gonna end soon. Then you'll ask but why me. That's why.
@av bootlick what? Office work. He-l no. And lose it all to agentic? Get a real job.
@av wait, as wfh tech and office jobs get laid off en masse? Hardly
RTO will end soon once big stink right sizes the company. If they don’t end 5X RTO then they simply will have no one left to run the company. After all the departures yesterday there is a fire sale on employment at AT&T. Only ones who will remain are those who have less than 5 years to retire or those simply too d-mb or lacking the skill to move elsewhere. Wait and see. I give the RTO charade 18 more months at best.
@aw your low income tears taste so good don’t they
Good idea! It'd finally free me from dealing with dimwits like you
Another comedy savant, rolling out the moldy oldies for another go-round.
Take a break from the bootlicking and work on some fresh material. Unless of course, you are simply incapable.
Even dimwitted bootlickers like you, with your stale and trite "humor"?
I think everyone should work from home - pilots, doctors, nurses, elecricians, plumbers. Not just office workers
Hint: you don’t “sell converged” from your couch or the golf course. Get back to work!
You should tell your supervisor that you, too, would like to be surplussed.

It is not fair, and they don't care.
@OP AT&T wants employees out of expensive real estate before the end of the 2nd quarter. They want out of the leases / maybe sell (I doubt they own the property.) But do not get it twisted. WFH is not safe. Between now and early 3rd quarter watch for wfh layoffs or RTO.
AT&T isn’t fair. Just like life isn’t fair sometimes, but AT&T is never, ever fair.
