Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Genuinely curious if anyone out there actually loves their job at T and what that even feels like

I'm asking because I honestly can't remember what it's like to not dread Monday morning. If you actually love what you do, what's your job and what makes it worth it for you?

Staying in a job long term was exactly what baby boomers planned all those years ago and, quite frankly, expected. It's a different world now and most understand that. Case in point, pensions continue to disappear in favor of Cash Balance Accounts and with the fear of Social Security running out of money before many are old enough to qualify is all a concern as we get older along with healthcare.

The longer you stay, the harder it may be to leave. Realistically, most people are not going to go find another job with the pay and benefits. It takes time to work one's way up the pay scale with time in title and location.

@aa

Excellent compensation compared to what that person could get anywhere else.

Most organizations would not consider hiring a person of their caliber so anything is better than 0.00

@ap

Fantastic advice (at least what I could glean through the numerous spelling and grammatical errors) but I'll pass.

I'll be on payroll as long as possible, doing as little work as possible, and wasting as many corporate resources as possible. All with an unapproachable and disengaged demeanor.

If it makes dimwitted bootlickers like you all cranky, that's an added bonus!

I love my job, I get free healthcare for life, more money than I could spend in 20 lifetimes, a membership at Augusta National and a luxury box at Cowboy stadium. All that for being perhaps the worst performing person in my job ever. It is good work if you can get it. Back to my "massage" from a Cowboys cheerleader.

I speak for everyone when I say this place has never been more toxic in history and everyone hates working here. That’s the truth, not these bot posts by HR.

I do enjoy the work I do, and my team, but the RTO policy has turned this place toxic and now I’m exploring other options because I need flexibility. The 5 days of commute 3 hours is not sustainable any longer.

I like the actual work I do in my job. What I don't like is having to come into the office to do meetings via Teams. Or endure the constant bureaucracy, poor leadership decisions, and secret squirrel stuff. That's the draining part. I wish there was more transparency, but I guess the leadership must put on their happy faces and use corporate speak to avoid 'getting into trouble'. So........ I'm just biding my time. Doing my 8 hrs for the 'presence gods'. But back on topic.... the actual job is better than some I've had in the past. Of course, all that's changing soon, so who knows how I'll feel in 6 months.

I personally like what I do even though I am the last one left to cover multiple states. It's the constant lake of support on the back end and these surpluses that pi-s me off to the point that I question why I haven't taken my retirement and moved to a company that values me as a person.
