Does anyone have access to read this article on HCSC executive salaries? Would love to know what Milton the master of Puppets gets for being on the board. I’m sure it’s far more than what most board members get.
We already know poor Maurice and Big O are overpaid and tanking us.

@1fs sounds legit!!
@1fs Miltons rise and power grab was done without any resistance...he orchestrated this whole thing starting in around 2018 when he got rid of Paula... there is no delta available that would even come close to rewarding any merit or success under Milton...not to mention the odd connection HCSC has with Halliburton. Remember that company?
@1n9 network advantage for commercial markets has also eroded in IL...ever since Maurice took over...so both big HCSC states. Discount reports show this erosion.
@1h7 thanks for the Corporate buzz words. We had the worst performance of all blues plans, worst year ever for TX and you don’t think leadership is to blame? Network advantage is eroded because our network team su-ks. ( bye bye Trip and Brad). We are slipping in service because we want to use chat and AI.
But sure- drink some blue kool aid that Maurice is fabulous. .
@OP so, employees absorb cuts, execs recieve raises or significant pay increases, and members face higher premiums...HCSC Bizarro world.
@1db there are stock companies in all five primary markets, but HCSC remains #1 in each market. This is due more to HCSC’s flexibility, claims-paying processes, and member services, than to who’s in the CEO chair. But, this leadership team is exceptional in extracting big dollars out of the company and away from members.
@1fs Milton is milking that seat for all it is worth. There are no other companies paying a board member or chair that kind of money.
almost 60% of top executive pay is for these 2 m&m clowns- It’s extremely discouraging
Executive Chairman: The position requires significant oversight and time. Former executive chairman Milton Carroll received nearly $10 million in 2025 (down from $25.4 million in 2024) Crain's Chicago Business. Maurice Smith succeeded Carroll as chairman of HCSC's board Crain's Chicago Business.
@1bk but a mutual company and not for profit. Any for profit company would have kicked these incompetents to the curb.
We are in the private sector.
@yk the board and our leadership reward their own incompetence and grift. Simply disgusting. They would all be canned in the private sector.
@12v don’t forget the cars to drive them home!
SLT is working overtime? Oh my gosh! Break out the cash!
@be and yet he kept his job??? What a joke HCSC has become.
@f7 does that include the board and Maurice???
@f7 Obviously, but easier to relate to as a standard
@e6 salty positions are not working 40
Hours a week.
@be $24 Million is immoral and tone deaf. 2080 hrs typical for a years worth of full time work - $11,538/hr — no one is creating that much value to be worth that
Did he still get a bonus with a garbage performance like that???
7 days ago - Maurice Smith led Health Care Service Corp. through a $1.9 billion loss in 2025 and saw his pay drop sharply — from $34.4 million to nearly $24 million from 2024 to 2025.
