@fj this empathy-lacking sycophant popping up in this chat must be one of the execs. Someone must've told them about this site. Imagine defending layoffs by saying "well you shoulda upskilled." I know someone with 25+ years of experience, in the twilight of their career, with kids in college who was impacted by the last layoff. Imagine telling this person to go back to school. Such a callous, sociopathic take. This screams senior leadership

@pw no idea what you’re talking about.

100% of people are being laid off? Your husband is going through a consultation for what? Your post is super vague

@f7 I guess you were so worked up that you missed the part that said "The fact that it's been moved to July 13-17 doesn't necessarily have to mean that there will be layoffs. There could be a number of potential reasons why it's been postponed."

@fj you write a lot because you like to hear yourself talk, and you think you’re better than all of the people here who might have something to lose if they get laid off. Maybe your life has been so good to you through your “up skilling”, not everyone is this fortunate even if they have done the same. Perhaps people have bad luck or going through something and to hear rumors that they might be out of work, whether true or not, is unsettling to them. You lack empathy and that makes you a bad person.

@fg

If people spent half as much time upskilling as they do refreshing this rumor board, they wouldn't have to worry about the upcoming 'restructuring.' I write a lot because actual strategy requires nuance; your panic just requires a paper bag to breathe into. But please, keep fueling the hysteria

it makes hitting our voluntary attrition targets so much easier.

@f7 the fact that you typed this much to defend a clearly cr-ppy company just shows that these other comments are on to something. Why waste so many words on this topic if it’s not worth talking about? You sound like a major tool - go back under the desk in your local executive’s office and do what he demands of you.

@d3

I love how we’ve gone from “wellness week exists” to full-on conspiracy theory with a corkboard and red string.

Let’s try a different thought experiment, one grounded in reality instead of Reddit-tier corporate fan fiction. Maybe, just maybe, scheduling changes happen because coordinating a company-wide event across departments, vendors, budgets, and leadership calendars is actually complex. Wild concept, I know.

The idea that executives are sitting in a room saying, “Absolutely do NOT give employees one extra day off two weeks before layoffs, that would destroy the entire plan,” is honestly impressive in its creativity. If that level of precision existed, half the operational issues people complain about wouldn’t exist in the first place.

At some point, we’ve got to separate pattern recognition from pattern invention. Moving a week on the calendar isn’t a coded message. It’s a scheduling change.

But hey, if we’re assigning meaning to everything, I’m looking forward to the deep dive on why the coffee machine got replaced last month. Clearly phase two of the master plan.

I'm going to take as many dumps as I can on the company dime before July hits. Bless us all.

And those not laid off will certainly need some wellness days to deal with the stress of doing more work with less people.Perfect timing.

@ag You can keep telling yourself that Wellness Week is proof that there won't be any layoffs. The problem is that you're missing a significant detail.

Wellness week in 2024 and 2025 were both scheduled for the the last full week of June (June 24-28 and June 23-27, respectively). The fact that it's been moved to July 13-17 doesn't necessarily have to mean that there will be layoffs. There could be a number of potential reasons why it's been postponed. But let's do a fun thought experiment and, for a moment, try to think the way executives at a corporation might think:

July 7 has been floated as the date the next round of layoffs begins. Let's assume that this information is correct. You're going to be laying off hundreds or maybe thousands of employees in order to cut costs. The two past years, you've given all employees an extra paid day off in June. Do you think it makes sense from their perspective to give that extra paid day off to those hundreds or thousands of people you're going to be laying off two weeks later? Not really, right? Wouldn't it make sense to postpone it until after the layoffs have been done?

Do you still feel as confident about Wellness Week being a sign that there won't be layoffs and that it's "business as usual"?

@bs this isn’t about what FIS does. I don’t work for them.

@OP FIS used to do the extra day off too. I guess they won’t do that anymore since so many are being “rebadged” to dodgy contracting companies.
