Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Honeywell makes no sense to me

I've worked in a lot of places. I've been the new kid, the old hand, and everything there is in between. But this is the only job where the longer I've worked here, the less appreciated I am. It’s like they don’t even care about experience or skills. You start out being treated well, like a valued member of the team. Then, after a few years, they suddenly start treating you like you’re not good enough for them anymore and they can't wait to get rid of you. It makes zero sense, but that's what's been happening.

Globalization— agree. Mr Cote even stated it in the form of a business axiom.. “work flows to the cheapest labor available”
This is only true in a world with safe, fast, and cheap shipping. That status of safe cheap shipping around the world ended a few years ago and the breakdown in global shipping will result in massive change.
Despite the song what the world needs now is not love peace or lithium .. it is water and grain. Certain aggressive Asian countries are short on both and no amount of foot soldiers , tanks, or aircraft carriers is going to change that.

Globalization (i.e., capital chasing cheap labor) is the root cause of all the problems discussed here over the past 10 years. This is not a simplification.

Experience implies you make things. Making things is a terrible way to earn money. Much better to have people pay you for the privilege to make something. Just look at Etsy .. the most profitable sites sell cad files not stuff.

You can't be rated a top block performance too often or you could be considered for promotion. Because HR audits the wording of annual reviews vs the block rating (yes they provide us templates of a review for each block rating) if they want you to stay where you are, and are sure that you are not in the job market, you always get a lame sounding review.

YOU are a burdened cost liability of direct or indirect labor that must be terminated with the role replaced in a Center of Excellence. Off shore of course.
