Wondering how resignations are handled

I’ve worked here a little over two years and have seen a few people leave, but none of them mentioned getting a better offer to stay. At past jobs, managers sometimes tried to match pay or move people into a different role. I’m not sure if that’s something this place does. Has anyone seen it happen, or is notice usually just accepted?

I resigned close to a year ago. Two days before my last day I was asked if there was anything that could be done to keep me. I wanted no part of staying, but thought it would be interesting to see if they would match. They "couldn't".

The main problem with FIS is the executive leadership, or lack there of. I was not at FIS long, but never once saw an executive leader (c-suite) address the company. No company town halls, no state of the business.. nothing. There is absolutely no company culture, no positive standards being set.. barely any accountability and no company values or vision for it's employees to connect their work to. Just bad business decisions made, one after another.

The severe organizational dysfunction allows (most) senior leadership act however they need to in order to survive. I personally witnessed too many senior leaders take out their own frustrations on employees directly.. yelling, bullying.. with zero repercussions. When a company lacks a positive culture and accountability, this is unfortunately what you get.

Listen, layoffs happen.. they are part of the risk you now take when signing up to work at a large tech company. That said, the lack of a positive, people-oriented, top-down culture has absolutely gutted this company. It is a shame because there are many talented people across the firm that feel stuck, depressed, are hating their work and want to leave.

If you have a way out, take it. Worst company I have ever worked for.

I submitted a resignation in 2022 because I was offered a new position with a 30% pay increase. Surprisingly, FIS did counteroffer and matched the salary. I don’t think 2026 FIS would counter though. Things were much different 4 years ago.

@OP dude if you have a good offer just go . Why do you want to stay in this place? Even if they will match or give you more than they will fire you in couple of months...

@OP Same as first reply. The company is trying to reduce headcount. So, no there won’t be an offer to stay.

In my experience, when someone leaves they just let him go and there is no filling their position. There is just one less person at the team and the others have to cover their work. Everything is just going down.
