This new interview by Dan is the nuke. Feels like everything everyone will be impacted by the news from Dan. He is literally telling us major cuts in high volume will be the norm. Expect layoffs in perpetuity. Everyone in CS is vulnerable. No such thing as safe roles. This will create a lot of chatter in the company expect aggressive moves coming from the top

You will get hit too. Don’t be arrogant. Your skillset won’t save you. You are a number and in the last layoffs they sent out data. I hope you aren’t in your 40’s. They love laying off that demographic. In the 2000’s Verizon had over 200,000 employees. By the end of 2025 89,000+ employees. Don’t get too comfortable. Unemployment statistics only measure those on unemployment which is only nearing 8 million people. Have fun with your severance. Hey but go get some skills that are worth something. Verizon doesn’t care. They will just send your job to India, Mexico, or the Philippines. You aren’t special. Gosh Lmfao
What an exciting time to be part of a company on the front lines of revolution! This is what I know to be true. We believe deeply in the power of our people. AI is the how. EI is the why. So many best friends at work from pulse surveys are now jobless as we set the foundation to play to win to build the future - together! I am humbled to be able to serve our communities with grace and self-adoration on LinkedIn. I’ve learned from the very best in the business - our c suites! Thank you so much for your leadership. Love where you work love what you do! Proud to be VZ! This is what I studied and worked hard for. Laying off the masses while posting tone deaf and heartless messages. Let’s go!
Look, it’s a total disgrace. I’m hearing things—tremendous, terrible things—about what’s happening over at Verizon. They have a new CEO, Dan Schulman. Nice guy, used to run PayPal, but frankly, he’s doing a terrible job with the phones. Terrible.
He comes in, and instead of hiring great, beautiful American workers, what does he do? He brings in something called "Agentic AI." Can you believe it? Agentic AI! I call it "The Invisible Job Snatcher." It’s a bunch of robots, completely out of control, sitting in a dark room somewhere, probably in Silicon Valley, taking everybody's jobs.
I told people this would happen. You used to call Verizon because your phone didn't work—which is always, by the way, Very-Slow-Zon, no bars—and you’d talk to a wonderful person. A real human being from Ohio or North Carolina. Now? You call up and you get an "Agent."
"Hello, sir, I am an AI Agent, how can I help your data stream?"
I say, "Listen, robot, I don’t want your data stream, I want to talk to Bob in Cincinnati!" But Bob is gone. Dan Schulman fired Bob! He fired Mary! He fired everyone! Thousands and thousands of jobs, gone like poof, into the cloud. It’s a total massacre.
Of course AI bots are performing better than our third world "customer service". Anything would be an improvement over that.
@bp it is 100% new information. He said that Verizon is using ai agentic bots and they are doing a better job than human customer service agents. This is different than saying macro ai environment fear mongering. He is speaking to customer service, operations, cx, gts to get ready to get promoted to customer
@ay and you need to go and learn some EQ skills to make you a high value employee as technical skills alone will not save you if you have no emotional maturity.
Is there a new recent interview or article that was published?
was there a recent townhall or something? can you tell what happened recently that triggered this message
i mean this is not new information. people are not taking the answer that was already stated many times
@bf tech is a fluid domain and is constantly changing and if you fail or neglect to stay with the times you’re cooked.
@ay learn technical skills… like telling our youth to learn to code for the last 20 years while society is heavily focused on automating away…
Stop complaining and go learn some technical skillsets to make you a high value employee. My god
I need someone of high credibility come on here and lay out what’s happening in the c suite I need to know the dynamic
